Hello everyone,
This poll is for real, and it will be shared with our architects.

We have a major real estate development under way where our entry courtyard for a 4-star hotel and a class-A office building complex does not have access to the parking garage. The architects contend this entry courtyard design will be serviced by valet.

If you were coming to dinner at this development, or if you were staying at the 4-Star hotel, would you valet park your Porsche?

Please indicate your preference, be specific, and I will send the entire poll to the architects.

thanks for your participation !

Probably not that relevant to the UK, as we dont have a history of voluntarily handing over the keys to our pride and joy to a spotty youth who cant get a proper job. Taking without the owners consent on the other hand....

No never - it never gets that dirty. It leaves the garage clean, and if it's dirty on the way home it gets cleaned again. Why pay for something that I can do better.

And the award for missing the point by the widest margin goes to...

I know Americans view things differently.

But no way would I have over the keys of the P&J for it to be "valet" parked by someone who doesn't know the dimensions of it well in a tight underground car park...who may or may not have driven a manual gearshift car ever before etc etc

Along with others I'd take the shopping car instead.

Can I suggest that your architects get creative about things so that valet parking can be offered as a service, but owners can drive their car themselves if they wish...

The only guy I ever handed the keys to happily was just outside the Royal Crescent Hotel in Bath.

I never valet park anything, even in Vegas I use the public parking. Saves waiting when you're ready to leave.

I'd certainly never trust them with any kind of sports car.

Last person to valet park one of our cars wrapped my girlfriend's 3 series (company car) around a pillar in the carpark. Parked up when we collected all innocent - except there were 4 of us getting into the car, thus we saw the other side with the damage. Guy denied all knowledge. Er, right.

Forgot to add: I don't have a Porsche, but the answer would be "no" if I did (and even if I didn't...)

Nope, never let the "valet" park the car.

I'm more than happy to park it myself, and if necessary have the "valet" ride with me as a passenger to show me where to go.

Yes, quite happy for any car to be valet parked, most recently, and successfully, at the St David's in Cardiff, and I always use valet parking when I fly (although I prefer to use the mini when I go to H'row, luggage allowing).

Bad experience with VP at a hotel in Copenhagen,
when i had my Maserati Ghibli , warned the driver that it had very low ground clearance but he managed to rip open the centre exhaust box.

It looked like it ad been attacked with a tin opener
4k bill covered on their insurance of cource

I would think twice about it

Would have been 'maybe 'until the idiots at Heathrow damaged my Jag and after protracted chat refused to do anything about it, even accept responsibility, despite their own checks proving it was not damaged when I left it but was when I picked it up

So no

Aah, my buddy lives just across from their garages & the doors are often open, as I park up & I was thinking some lucky bugger has a car collection to rival even the infamous Dokics imaginary hareem- as there are usually some lovely wagons tucked away, well till I found out it was the hotels garaging anyway!
