OPC warranty after Indy service?

Car has had the penultimate service at non OPC. OPC say they can carry out 111 point check, but can't offer a warranty?
Car is one I'm potentially buying...
While that sounds very odd that they're prepared to charge you for an inspection but still won't offer a warranty, maybe you need to ask yourself if you need it to be covered by a warranty? I'm presuming it's a manual Cayman R you'r talking about which will therefore be at least 6 years old and has proven itself to be reliable. Without a warranty you'll be free to service it outside the network and can put the money aside that you would spend on a warranty each year in case there is ever a big repair bill.Car is one I'm potentially buying...

I guess you're buying privately? Makes it more tricky if the seller is near Silverstone OPC as I seem to recall it's the seller who needs to get the 111 point inspection carried out and the warranty applied or there's some kind of exclusion period, maybe 90 days?
I could be getting mixed up with some other "rule" but someone will clarify no doubt.
I bought my 981 privately and asked the seller to take it through a 111 point check for my peace of mind. I paid the OPC for the check prior to purchase after the seller had it done. Having said that, PorscheGB subsequently refunded the 111 check fee, and more, for missing the hundreds of stone chips to the wheels whereas they just ticked off "wheels" on the check list.
For peace of mind the 111 check is therefore perhaps useless, but it has to be done before any new warranty is applied.

You're quite correct, and PGB argued the 111 point check was only for "mechanical items" which it ought to be as you say. This was after I had argued the paint finish to the wheels was sub-standard from the factory. Contrary to what you say I had only noticed the chips when first washing the car after purchase. OPC Reading also missed them when the seller presented the car for inspection. PGB had to back down as the inclusion of "wheels" on the 111 point check list cannot have any relation to a mechanical function as there is nothing mechanical about a lump of aluminium, therefore it is purely cosmetic and they had to finally admit this and their error in not noticing the chips. I am of course also to blame for not noticing, but I feel justified in that I have never seen such a multitude of micro stone chips on any other wheel in 40 years of motoring. This, and other owners' reports of similar issues, led me to conclude it is the paint finish which is the problem.

I don't disagree. Here's what PGB actually wrote: "The 111 point check is for the mechanical items which would be covered by a warranty. As wheels are not classed as mechanical and are deemed as cosmetic, they are not afforded under the warranty."And my response to THEIR assertion wheels are "not mechanical":
"Question: If wheels are purely cosmetic, and the 111 point check is for mechanical items only, why are the wheels checked for damage during the 111 point check? See attached copy from my 111 point check from 5 Nov 15."
They could well have argued the mechanical properties better, i.e. that wheels can crack, and perhaps batted me away with: "As stone chips are not classed as a mechanical defect...etc."
Unortunately the lady I dealt with didn't have that knowledge and folded.

If the last service the car received was out of the Network, to get back on to the Warranty the car would need a major service before it could pass the 111.Penultimate suggests the car has had the most recent in Network but prior out of - if I understand correctly (it's late......)
Regarding wheels...since one of the checks on the 111 point list is the wheels the OPC should send them for radiography to check for cracks as a visual inspection will not pick up any internal defects in the metal.
The above is a scenario will never happen imagine the cost, still I wouldn’t fancy paying for a replacement wheel or two if they fail.

Was told i could buy warranty for the 993 if it went through the 111 point check and if there were any issues i had them rectified. They found worn bushes in rear anti roll bar so i had them replaced. They then decided I couldn't buy a warranty unless i put in approved battery, original Becker audio unit and new standard exhaust. I had already told them before I booked it in that I had a Danske exhaust! It may be different for the newer models as this was for the Porsche Classic Warranty that they promoted through the owners club. I said I would change the battery and put the original Becker back in and accept an exclusion on any problem relating to exhaust but they wouldnt accept this proposal. I was less than impressed - they should have explained the issues before booking me in.

Speak to the dealer principal. Do you know who you spoke to when booking in? Did they say fine for the 111 point check for exhaust, audio, and battery? Did you book over the phone?I had an issue when I spoke to one service receptionist over the phone, booked the car in, later arrived at the appointment, and another receptionist told me the price would be double. I walked.
Phoned the DP and had a row about wasting my time.
2 hours later he phoned back, said he'd listened to the original phone call and I was right. He would honour the original price or do my next service 1/2 price, which he later honoured.

Did they say fine for the 111 point check for exhaust, audio, and battery when you booked it in for the 111 point check? If only the exhaust was Ok'd (which agreement they should still honour) and you didn't mention the battery and Becker they'd maybe want to do another 111 point check after these were re-fitted, or perhaps re-fit these themselves. Did they fit the new bushes?
They fitted the bushes but will not budge on exhaust issue. They say EVERYTHING has to be factory standard for the warranty. The fact it has been serviced by indies for years is not an issue! I provided the service history before the check over which shows some missed services as some previous owners were not too fussy......
