Swop Cayman R - 996.1GT3 for what ?

Afternoon guys,
On holiday thinking in the lucky position of owning above cars, recently married and now have a lovely 4yr old child.
Problem being the obvious one having only 2 seats! & would be nice to all go in one car so something gets some use!
What would you sell & what would you buy.
I absolute love both cars for different reasons, love the absolute rawness of the GT3, the cage and the driving pleasure of getting it right, the car is tip top after owning it 8years.
The Cayman is just such a useable car for all occasions and with the PSE, buckets etc again is special.
Reality wise can’t see anything going unless find a solution to replace again with something special.
I really like the old air cooled stuff but prices are absolutely crazy & think I’d end up worse off and regret it.
993 Turbo / 964 Turbo would be great but remember test driving them in the 45k days & could never bring myself to the new levels!
Any thoughts for a special car that again would feel special.
I literally can’t think of anything, just been looking at the old early 911s!
Help....I’m 99.9% certain il be sticking with my current dream garage, all be it a lovely 997RS would be lovely to swop out. Proper 1st world problems.

Took me all of about 3seconds when typing this post what I should do & decieded to stick with what I have.
The R is such an awesome car I can’t ever see Porsche making anything as good again in that price band and the GT3 rawness again something I love.
GTS a good shout, thought that myself along with turbos but just be too refined.
Loved the 964 4.0 suggestion, that would be something different 😊
All in all, sod the practicality, keeping quiet to the Mrs, think only way forward would be a 997 RS for me.
Kid can sit on the roof, all be it, as above the GT3 with belts in the back is good shout...
Anyway, cheers all for suggestions and as you can see, I doubt any toys be moving home anytime soon.

ks from you, as usual. They are extremely closely matched and many have done exactly this. It's a fine choice, which is why I put it out there; the answer isn't always "a Porsche".

a 1295 kg R with a NA engine, sweet shift and rock solid build.
vs a 1440 kg forced induction poor shifting car with really substandard build a very old engine and a pretty crap gear box, not to mention much worse mpg, double the car tax, And lets not talk Clutch costs or tyres either !!!

Lotus cannot sell the Evora at all in the Uk it's a dead duck with sales so low it's not worth them building any imo.
In fact Lotus have price themselves out the market !! zero Elise cup 260 sales !! and Evora sales you can count on one hand of late

First of all, the Evora won ECOTY (which Cayman R never did - it only got 4 stars from them), with 1300 Kgs and a far more-reliable-than-most-Porsches 280 BHP NA engine, so really not that different. The later cars improved the gearshift - which can retrofitted to earlier cars - and build quality, too. You really want to compare repair bills, how's about Porsche engine or gearbox rebuilds?
There are several on Lotus forums who have come from all sorts of Porsches (including GT4s!) to Evoras. No, Lotus cannot match the interior feel of Porsche, but once you get past that, in every other way it's at least as good a sports car; and the most important part of a sports cars isn't the quality of the plastics, is it? I bet to most people, even the great Cayman R gives best to the Evora on steering and damping; they are astonishingly good.
In addition, I think the Evora a far better-looking car and most importantly, the OP was interested in taking kids, too (bit tricky in a Cayman).
My point is that people need to take the Porsche blinkers off/stop believing all the marketing and interior bling and think about the genuinely excellent alternatives out there. Lotus make superb cars which are reliable, handsome and extremely rare, which means they depreciate far less. I've done it after 5 Porsches and it's been a revelation. I still love Porsche (and kept one), but knocking Lotus is actually b
ks.
