For the past couple of years I have been ignoring Hartech's warning that my exhaust back boxes were splitting and soon in need of replacement.

In June I took a chance on the TopGear mild sports silencers at a price of £450 including VAT and Delivery smilehttps://www.topgear.co.uk/porsche-911-996-carrera-...

I'd read some horror stories about cheap exhausts not fitting (or worse requiring hours of messing about) so I had them shipped to Hartech in advance so if it looked like they wouldn't fit then I could send them back and buy Dansk instead. I shouldn't have worried, they went on using new Porsche clamps and don't sound very different to the originals, so I thought.

I've just put 1500 miles on them across France and at the beginning of the trip as I put my foot down at 2000 RPM my 12 y/o daughter looked a bit worried and asked what's that noise? There is a bit of a boom between 2000 and 2500 RPM but then it soon goes away which is the answer.

Full marks to Top Gear and thanks to Hartech for keeping my >110,000 mile 996 on the road!

They're getting a good name, that's for sure.

Dansk is another story.......

Nice, I'm about to pull the trigger on 200 cell cats + the sports exhaust system for my old C2!

It's funny isn't it ? For ages Dansk was the default recommendation, then Top Gear became the best thing in the world and Dansk were relegated to somewhere between Polio and full-blown AIDS. The internet is very fickle.

I’m having my new TG mild boxes and 200 cell cats fitted next week to my 2001 3.4 C2 by D W Performance. Looking forward to the drive home to Surrey.

Yup, and then flexis in Dansk started getting old and rusting to hell and back.
