Cayenne questions
Discussion
Thinking of buying a Cayenne S but have a few questions:-
What are the service intervals?
What options are 'needed' (ideal for me would be manual, air suspension and no pcm but would this make it 'unsellable')
What are the lead times on delivery or are the dealers likely to have ones on order or in stock?
How bad is the depreciation, after recently lost a fortune on a GT3 this is quite important.
Cheers

you only need check the classifieds to see what specs command the best re-sale prices.
pcm sat-nav & adj air-suspension affect the prices more than anything else (the air susp. more so)
i waited over 3 months to find one with the right spec. in the right colour combo
electric comfort packs worthwhile, as is a sunroof (my pref.) alloys can be bought after/negotiated over for a small fee. other things that came with it were considered a 'bonus'.
edited to add colour choice is also an important one blue/black/silver or grey seems to be the favoured route.

Lead times are about 3 months, but there are quite a few in the pipeline - cancelled orders, cars ordered for stock etc. You may well find one to a spec you like.
Options wise, the main ones are Tiptronic, PCM, park assist - without them I suspect your resale will be adversely afffected.
Depreciation? Dunno until you actually have to trade one in. Year old ones in OPCs are priced only a couple of £K below list, but I would guess with a margin of up to £5k? I suspect it will depreciate no worse than any other car in the same class - the VW Touareg's seem if anything to get hit a bit harder?

Thanks for all the answers so far. Is there a noticeable difference between the air suspension and the spring suspension for road use ?
Jim
Yes.....
there is a difference. You have the ability to change from comfort - normal - sport (stiffens springs & adapts the shocks) also different ride heights for different road uses.
The dealers will tell you that unless youre towing / doing a lot of off-road, then its pretty useless having the air-suspension. But you speak with most owners of S's & im sure they'll agree, its a must-have option (however i wouldnt pay the extra £2500? for it new, neither an extra £2500 for the sat-nav).
Thats why i bought used via an OPD.
n.b. dealers have a lot of S's with EITHER sat nav OR air-susp. but not a lot with both. Hence their ambivalence at pushing the stock they have!
Was at an OPC yesterday and a lot of what you say echoes what I was told by them. From a personal point of view I'd prefer the air over PCM but the dealer said that the prices listed in Glass's guide assume pcm is fitted. Doing a search on the Porsche site there is one 'reasonably' priced car with both options plus a few of hte other desriable options. The spec of cars my local OPC had weren't really for me.

From experience. Wait. One WILL come along & the OPC dealer WILL bend over backwards to get the sale.
Im in the Herts area & notified 3 OPC's that were nearest to me. One dealer over 60 miles away even sent out a salesman to value my 2 px's to secure my business!
Its always better to remain relaxed & patient, because you just know what will happen if/when you come to job this car in, the very same dealer that sold you the car will tell you that its worthless without such & such............. that at the time, he swore blind when selling, that you didnt need!
n.b. most of these opc's will move stock about. Youre better off searching on the OPC website for what you want then telling the local dealer where it is. Chances are they'll have some deal in place to move stock about?
