Hi all,

I'm selling my GT4, decided to place it on SOR as it has finance outstanding and i assumed private buyers would be uncomfortable with paying it off prior to sale.

However i'm reconsidering as a few PHers have emailed me stating intention to transact privately

Does anyone have experience selling a £70-80k car privately?

(i could always pay off the finance myself prior to selling if required)

Can a buyer obtain finance on the car should they wish?

Although not in the GT4 price range I bought my previous CR by settling the finance. The seller got the settlement figure from Porsche finance and I paid it to direct to them. However I was a cash buyer and didn't need to get finance to pay off the finance if you know what I mean!

If you have the ability to pay off the finance prior to selling privately or SOR, then I would do that. I always worried about paying off someone's finance only for them to renage on the deal and refuse to sign the car over...

Private buyers can get finance through well known companies, though the companies may insist on an inspection first.
