Hello 99 sixers. My 996 has had rust appear in the wheel arches. I don't know the best way to have this fixed. Can it be a local repair, which is maybe too small for a respray body repair shop, or must it be a whole wing repair/respray job? Advice please.

Hi

You should probably remove the arch liner and splash guard bit and check to see the extent of the rust. What you can't see is often worse than what you can but you may be lucky and it may just be surface corrosion from a chip or scratch.

Good luck

I had similar on mine. Whilst the visible rust was confined to the area shown in your picture, when I took it to the body shop they found rust starting around other parts of the arch too.

They repainted the whole of the front wings.

Together with removing and repainting the bumper, it came to just over £800.

Very common; I had mine fixed by Ty at Riviera Autobody and he says they see this all the time. Probably worth having both sides done as I'm sure the other won't be far behind.

Ah again :-)
Yes, it is both sides indeed, and at the front and back! Riviera looks good - except I'm in Croydon and it is in Wallingford. I'll try and find a more local equivalent. Maybe 911 Excellence in Horley can provide one.
Cheers... Chris.
