GT4 or Carrera T

As we stand today neither atm, I would wait for the new GT4 specs to come out and then try and buy that or choose then.
M2 comp is a really nice car all told for £50k, for T money you could get a M4 CS and pocket £20k ! looks far better value to me esp now the price has dropped £25k and will be a rare car going forward with a very short run, so might not be too bad resale, just go for a ceramic braked car.
If you want to track a car GT4 no question but again loads on the market and more will come once the new one is here due to part ex's and them being 3 year old PCP issues.
Today for £65k M4 CS is my pick.

It really depends on what you want the car for...Some will disagree but my thoughts are...
If you want to use the car everyday and its your only car... Carrera T.
If its your second car, weekend warrior or track toy... GT4.
I'm a GT4 owner - it's brilliant - you can use it daily of course depending on your appetite.
I had a 981 Cayman GTS - it was my daily and only car... my wife had a Mercedes, which we used for family outings.
If the Carrera T was available when i was thinking about changing... I may likely have gone for one - Standard Seats, Manual, LW Glass.
It would continue as my daily it would be a great car to do it all.
I had always been interested in the GT4 - and buying it for me required a conscious decision about how i was going to use the car to really get the value out of what it was designed and built for. For me and also because of the spec of car, that also meant i needed more cars - so I also aqcuired a new Golf GTD for daily duties. This has provided a perfect balance for me and so i can enjoy the GT4 as intended and it is saved from the more mundane activities - although i know some of the best drives can occur unintentionally - just like the best camera if the one you have with you when you need it.

I probably wouldn't have gotten the same experience from the Carrera T, as I wouldn't have done as many TDs.

Depends very much on what you want to use the car for and where.
I have yet to see a report from anyone that purchased a Carrera T that doesn't say positive things about it. It is a great all rounder for me in my personal circumstances (which also include an occasional need for rear seats).
The GT4 is a very special Cayman, it is a bit more hardcore, looks like a racing car with number plates and I would say is probably more of an event to drive.
To be honest, I would happily have either but I do love my Carrera T and am happy with my choice.

Car would be my 2nd car mainly for weekend fun and the annual euro hoon. Don’t think I would do many track days, it would however get the a few laps of ‘ring when on tour. I would describe its use as very spirited road driving.
I have a letter of intent in for a 718 GT4 with my local dealer and do hound him weekly, however this is very much an unknown.

Had the previous M2, loved it! The issue I found was that is didn’t feel that special enough as a weekend toy. Yes, very fickle I know..... You really won't go wrong with either. I've had a GT4 and personal preference is I like the drive and feel of a 911 over a Cayman. I always think you get better vfm with the 911 - the overall package somehow feels money well spent vs a 3-4 yr old Cayman.
As for the 718 GT4... I think most people who really want one will probably get one. That's the feel I get from being around and talking to 3 OPC's in the past month.

I'm very happy with the T, for whatever reasons I'm enjoying driving it more. It takes a bit more learning to "drive". I've mentioned before that the GT4 is a bit too much "on rails" for road driving-maybe that's just tyres?
I also prefer the clean classic 911 look?
Obviously if it was NA it'd be pretty much perfect, although as turbos go the concensus seems to be the base 3l is as good as it gets.
If you're tracking a bit and weekending more, perhaps the GT4 is your car though.
Residuals are the in thing on here these days, the GT4 was a bit of a bargain at list when new.
Now both cars are up for replacement and similar money. The T as said will be a few years newer. Again, I think they're both very spec sensitive - which again has been covered to death on here!

Having driven over 15,000 miles in a 997 GTS with the standard fit powerkit and screaming race car soundtrack at high revs before swapping to the T, I can honestly and genuinely say that the 3.0 twin turbo in the T is a peach. It's a modern solution for a modern car and, for me, it works.

That turbo engine does nothing for me in comparison to what was before. Yes it makes it easier to just cruise around as you have access to torque all the time but you get no real reward for wringing the last few revs out of it, like most cars with a turbo engine you may as well shift well short of the red line. And the fake sound insertion gets tedious after a while. Outside it sounds like a vacuum cleaner which is just delightful. In all honesty I don't really get Porsche's thinking.
I have never driven a GT4 so I don't know how good it is. The reviews are extremely positive, though, so I don't think it's crap. The thing I would be mostly interested in is if the GT4 has more engagement than the dialled back feel of the normal 991/981 cars. It's certainly a car I would consider once it learns how to depreciate.

T drivetrain is a peach. No lag, lovely swell of torque, revs out, great gearbox and LSD
If you’re a real track hound, GT4. If you’ll do a couple of track days a year, but will use the car 95%+ on the road, then T
Plus the T can be had with rear seats or a vast luggage space for longer trips
