C7 RS6 OR 2012 PANAMERA 4S/TURBO

Hello everyone!
I am posting on behalf of a friend of mine.
Would be interesting to get some feedback.
He is looking for either a C7 RS6 or Panorama 4s/Turbo. Budget is around 40K.
One question we would like answering is peoples feedback with the buttons instead of paddles? I personally don't like the sound of them.
Has anybody got experience with both and offer their much-appreciated input?

I have had both . I changed my RS6 for a new Panamera Turbo
Best change I ever made . Whilst the RS6 is s great car, it doesn’t have the all round ability of the Porsche
You can drive the RS hard and it’s brilliant , but if you just want to cruise along the motorway and relax , the RS never looses it’s rawness.
On the other hand the Porsche can be driven just as hard as the RS , it’s just as quick , if not quicker , can be made to feel raw and agreesive , handles brilliantly, but then when you want to drive back home in a relaxing manor , press a couple of buttons and it feels as smooth and as easy to drive as an S class .
I still loved the Audi and it is definitely more practical than the Panamera having 5 seats and being an estate , but if You don’t need those two things , for me it would be the Porsche every time

Dog? Get an RS6. No dog / don't need to carry lots of stuff? Get the Porsche.

Agree. Panamera screams wilmslow golf club to me. Had several RS6 and looked at the latest version too, but falling knife. Few out there but getting leggy. New model out shortly too.qwick69 said:

The manual setup allows the driver to change gear through buttons on the front of the steering wheel, right?
I am not sure if I would like that to be honest...

Chris testing the diesel - link below. I wouldn't call it rapid but it's fast enough. If you're considering diesel you should be considering the hotter a6 bi tdi which is very competent. Porsche have now dropped the diesel. Not sure that means anything other than global pressure on emissions. Thanks for all the really helpful replies.

I have the same wheel in my Boxster. There is a paddle version but that has no multi function and no heating. I really like the heated wheel although I use it more in cold weather when I have the roof down. In a pan I'm not sure it's really required.
Anyway re the buttons or flippers I occasionally use them. They feel ok. The gearbox in the Boxster rarely needs over riding. I have accidentally shifted down when grabbing the wheel quickly while turning a sharp bend and by doing so pulled a flipper back which shifted into 2nd or 1st can't remember. That wasn't ideal but it's a once in blue moon thing.
And both flippers on both sides do up and down gears. Pull to go down and push to go up.
So on balance I prefer the button wheel.

Where does your friend live ? I ask because the rs6 is one of the most stolen cars in certain areas.I am posting on behalf of a friend of mine.

It doesn't make the top ten most stolen cars in the UK (proportion of number sold) but RS4 does. But I am aware sixes are targeted in some areas (eg Birmingham and Merseyside) but insurance premiums (which are surprisingly low - eg I paid 350 fully comp versus 450 for my RS4) suggest not a major issue.@ franki68

How does it compare to the other Panarema varients?
I have the Burmeister sound system, rear seat entertainment (screens), full carbon pack & a few other things as options. Otherwise it has just about everything bar PCCBs (though has to be said this may be an advantage).
Turbo S runs about 50hp more than standard turbo so sits at 550bhp. A well specced Turbo may not be hugely different. I got lucky found one in the right colour.... agate grey. Right wheels. Full black interior with carbon. And low miles 12.5k at 6 years old. It was immaculate.
As an all round car I think it has to be one of the best out there. Everybody who has travelled in it has been impressed buy the comfort, space & environment. It feels far smaller than it is when you are hustling it along B roads. Performance is just mental.
They are however quite rare (Turbo Ss). More so than GT3s for example.
