I’ve been responsibly saving up my pennies and have, at long last, just about enough car tokens (and a green light from the Mrs) to buy some entry level 996 pork.

I’ve been trying to persuade myself to buy something more sensible, but my heart is winning out and I’ve seen something in West London that could be suitable.

I know all the risks RMS/IMS/bore score etc, but being a mechanical numpty, have no idea how to spot these. So would like to get a decent Pre Purchase Inspection to help me.

Does anyone have any recommendations for where to get a decent value PPI in West London to check the car for me? Do OPC’s do PPI and are they any good? Does anyone have good experiences of PPI’s?

Have just come back from living in Sydney, where I was driving a painfully vanilla 1.3 Toyota Echo (because Sydney police there are total fun nazis). I’m desperate to drive something enjoyable again! So please help me.

Thanks, Alex

Thanks legend. Will check them out. Have you had any personal experiences with them?

Thanks for the additional recommendation. Looks like another worthy option. Cheers.

Also speak to RPM Technik.

First thing you want to do before anything else is put a borescope in the engine. If that’s ok, continue with the rest of the PPI.

Enjoy the car hunt

Currently in Sydney, visiting some family... and keep bumping into quite fun cars though, I must say! (Not to mention "Holden Maloo" holigans around!! laugh

Going back to PPI, 996 is a pretty old possibly problematic car. I would suggest getting from a well-known dealer, so that you have some sort of warranty.

Portiacraft or 911Virgin are quite well-known dealers imho.

Ha! Funnily enough, I recognise both the beach and the car you’ve photographed. Chatted to the owner of that 911 a while ago. Seemed like a nice chap.

Both excellent - you won't go wrong with either.

Both very good companies and agreed you won't go wrong with either of them.
