I've still got some life left in the standard discs and pads but have felt that my GT4 isn't in the best form when it comes to braking on track.

Hence, any recommendations on pads & discs/rotors can put up with track use and but remain usable on the road? BTW - Ceramic discs are off the list due to costs.

What issues have you been having? And what tyres are you on?

Any decent grooved rotor (girodisc, alcon etc, quite a few options as the gt4 fits a pretty standard 380mm front and a thinner 380mm rear) and pagids rs29 are the general go to option. They squeak a bit but not really a big deal for me. If you're flush with cash you could try the endless endurance pad, they last like forever (quite probably as much over the pagids as they cost over them!) but the initial outlay is a bit of a shocker on the wallet....

Running cup2's. When braking hard on track, the brakes don't have the bite and stopping power that I'd expect.

Agreed compared to a F3 car but it is a heavier car and I have always found Porsche Brakes to be fine , as Isaldri states try aftermarket Alcon discs and RS 29 , for years this has been the solution for Porsches

Try braking on the tarmac rather than the grass, you will stop much quicker wink Happy New Year T, see you at Oulton in March and Spa in April.

Lol.… cheers Bubbles, and same to you.
Exciting year ahead, kicking off with Oulton and Spa as you say. Can’t wait.

Any recommended suppliers for the Alcon discs and RS29 pads?

why not swap to AP callipers and run the whole setup from AP and/or Alcon? that way you save weight as well as improve performance.

Before chucking the whole braking system in the skip, try some decent fluid : Castrol SRF, Endless or Motul, stick some new front pads in at the same time, RS 29 or RSL 29 as they are now. Those two mods should drastically improve matters, but if you’re still not impressed, upgrade the discs to floating Alcon’s or something similar.
Basics first always a good idea.. you might also check whether cross drilled holes are clear of brake dust

The GT4 steels came form the GT3 so I'd be surprised if they are poor performers on a car 100 kilos and 100 bhp lighter ....

Braided hoses / New SRF or equivalent fluid / jet washed discs (to remove dust) and decent pads should surely do the trick ...

Otherwise you could look at an ST conversion using the existing callipers ... ?? But £10k unless the secondhand set is still around on the PCCB for sale site ... ?

Exactly… which is why I asked about what the issue was. As others have said… might worthwhile making sure the current system is all in order, clean up/out the disks, braid lines and updated fluid and pads.
