Which Cayman (987) would you choose?
Discussion
Hey guys,
First time posting here and in a bit of a pickle. I'm yet to drive either, but from spec and mileage alone, which one would you be leaning towards?

£20k is upper limit of my budget and I'd likely be putting 10k miles on it a year.

Thanks for all your replies guys, I'm holding out a bit longer for the dream one! Thoughts on Tan interior?
Savannah. I had it in my first Porsche, a 986.2 in Lapis with a blue roof. I think it works better on the 986 platform due to the amount of black plastic. Obviously as I had it in my first Porsche it still looks special to me. Much Much prefer it to boring black. Against all the alu or Silver on the 987 platform I dont like it so much.anonymous said:

A 2.9 with extended leather is pretty nearly impossible to find. There were a few 2.7's with it but 2.9's? Nada. I'm with Ahbefive as well - finding one in a colour that is more interesting than black or silver outside with an interior that isn't black (or very-nearly-black) makes things harder still.
I'm seriously considering finding the best 2.9 I can and paying some interior place to re-trim some bits in something other than plastic.

Afternoon moose, mildly related: can I just ask how does the explodeyness of the 987 3.4 compare to the 996 3.4? As a friend and I are considering a 996 3.4 and we won't be only considering an engine rebuilt example, but you insinuate this to be the requirement for a Gen1 987 3.4?Genuinely wondering if there's build differences etc.
Beers!
