Dear all,

I wanted to take my car to Silverstone for the above course. The recommendation from the experience centre was to discuss with my insurer (Direct Line) and to describe the day as an 'advanced driving experience,' rather than a track day. Anyhow, direct line won't cover this for me.

Has anyone got any recommendations for additional cover outside of my normal policy?

Thanks advance.

Doubt you will crash. Especially with instructor next to you.

I've also got a PEC Precision day booked and choosing to use my own car..Its extremely unlikely you'll crash as the PEC instructors always err on the side of caution.
My GT3 was recently switched from my NFU fleet policy to Footman James which included five trackdays(including european tracks)..Personally i don't think track insurance will be required for this however it depends on your own attitude to risk..If you feel that the thought of no insurance will distract from driving then i'd switch to a another insurer.

Moris and A-Plan come up in a quick search.

When I was looking into this it was cheaper to get a policy with track days included than buy a 'high street' policy and then buy additional insurance. If your insurance is due quite soon then there is plenty of choice out there.

Surely you have to show proof of insurance, what would you do if the worst happens and you injure the instructor and any other people or equipment.
I think it would be very irresponsible to just think that all “should” be ok.
Just my two pennys worth.

Thanks very much for the replies. I've been given the opportunity to spend a day on the main circuit driving an Aston Martin vantage, so I think I'll suffer this and when my insurance is next up for renewal (May), make sure I have the option to use on track days.
