A deposit on a Porsche Taycan is....Europe 2,500 euros....USA $2,500...UK £5000.
Why ?

Haven't you heard?

Prices will double when we leave the EU.
Double the deposit.

'Sources' say that they have enough UK firm interest for the first 18-months' production so better get in there if you want one. Had my LOI in since 2016, so hopefully will get an early build and have the deposit ready smile

I was in my OPC today, chatting to the Business Manager about various things. Subject of the Taycan came up which I’ve “expressed an interest” in....over a year ago I think. He said “as soon as the car is launched we’ll be on the phone looking for a deposit”’ AFAIK official Porsche GB policy is no deposits get taken until a car is officially launched. I was asked for a deposit for my GT3 when the car was launched and not before.

It’s going to be a very popular car. Oh and it’s the new volume model for Porsche...

Yes - I understand it has reached the 40,000 worldwide quota. Quite impressive for a vehicle that hasn't revealed it's price or final design, a lot to live up to !

I think I read somewhere that they will launch the “Turbo” model first with a price anticipated in the 150k euro range (priced between the equivalent Cayenne and Panamera or some such indication from somebody at Porsche)
I am interested, but it will be too expensive for me I suspect

Porsche sold 15,000 cars in the UK last year of which half were Macan and Cayenne according an Autocar article I just found....I was told that they expect to sell 4K to 4.5k Taycan’s in the UK next year.

I put a pre-holding deposit down a few months ago of £1k, the car sure will be popular.

I think your OPC’s are taking the piss asking for a deposit personally.

I was wondering about holding their value, you have to assume it will be superb engineering and if it's limited to 40,000 worldwide has to hold the value somewhat !

In the first year 40,000 - how many model s get sold per year? Similar price point and performance stats?

32k 911's sold per year - https://newsroom.porsche.com/fallback/en/company/p...

Cars in that size aren’t renowned for holding their money well tbh. I’ve also found that getting good business lease quotes on hybrid/electric cars is very expensive - I think that’s cos the market doesn’t yet know the resale values 3-5 years down the line and whether the public will want to own a 5 year old battery powered car.

I’m sure Porsche will do better than most but atm I’m happy to stand on the sidelines and watch the first deliveries before jumping in.

Yes it will be a fun drive but a leap into the dark...some much is happening in the new world of electric cars. Wonder what will happen when when hydrogen technology kicks in ?
