Uneven wear - advice please?
Discussion
Replaced the rears on my Cayman ~7k miles ago. Had some new fronts fitted earlier & the workshop mentioned uneven wear on the rears, then showed me. I usually check the depth of the tread grooves which at it's shallowest is about 5mm but told the reading should be taken from the long ring running the circumference of the tyre where the depth bars are. Readings were 3.5mm on the outside, 4mm in the middle & inside is still at 5mm.
When the rears were replaced a geo check was done with some adjustments, albeit by a different place that I would not be in a rush to use again.
The fitter says a geo check now won't stop the tyres wearing unevenly & advised waiting until I have new rears fitted then get it done. However wanted to check with the rest of the community on any thoughts - could it be geo or might it be bush arms/suspension? Taking the car to indy soon & didn't know if they could visually tell if it's mechanical?

So many things here from tyre pressures through to worn/wearing bushings etc for all manner of things and geo
You need to establish root cause so if not mechanically minded point the indy to your symptoms and let him work his magic
dont thrown money at the car until you've got deeper into it!
