Do any folks here know what's happening with the above establishment ? Driving through Meriden on my way home this evening noticed that the showroom was empty of stock and a line of Heras fencing erected along the frontage. By the looks of things the demolition claw of doom can't be far away. Have they closed down ?, relocating ? temporary closure for redevelopment ?

Their website has now vanished. No statements about closure, the site has just gone. Doesn't look as if they're trading any more.

I'd say judging purely on the above they may have run out of road, how sad.

I'm sure Carl the owner did an interview in one of the Porsche mags a while back saying he was changing tack and looking forward to retirement.

The site was always prime development land. As I understand it Carl made no secret of the fact he was biding his time until the right offer came up, or he retired and could sell the land.

Thanks for all the replies. I live in Cov and have occasion to drive through Meriden about once a week or so. Always a pleasure to drive past Shirleys and steal a glance at what was parked in the window, but alas no more.

Thanks short-shift for the delve into the planning applications. Gonna be a tight squeeze to get 8 houses onto that plot but at least the occupants won't have very far to go for a driink - the Bulls Head is only the other side of the road.

That's two of the three Porsche specialists in the Cov area to have ceased trading in the last couple of years, with PCT Cars' premises further down the A45 now being a caravan dealership, this leaves just JRS at the bottom the same slip road on the other side of the A45.

Bought my 993 turbo from Carl in 2003 and used to get it serviced by the guy next door (cant remember his name). Always good to deal with.

I'm in Meriden, so Porsche is still in the village!

Me too.

With the garage being demolished Martin Brown is trading as well as ever, porschetechservicing.co.uk on Birmingham Road opposite where PCT used to be on A45. His phone number is 07831 489654

Shame, I drove past yesterday and it had been completely knocked down - houses being built. Had no idea it was closing.
