Added Security (1986 3.2 Carrera)

Hi,

I would like to add some extra security to the above car.

It’s parked in a secure underground carpark that is guarded at night, however it doesn’t take much to walk in during the day, and i’m Sure it wouldn’t take much to get an old classic car started?

I’ve heard of a lot of people adding kill switches, etc however i’d also like to add something visual such as a ‘steering wheel and gear stick’ brace.

I know again, these can be cut through but i’m sure every little helps.

Can anyone recommend anything similar to the above? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi, apart from a decent engine immobilizer, I took the 'removal steering wheel' route for my older 911's. Unless some one wants to physically pick the car up (with a truck) then I would hazard they would keep walking without it having a steering wheel.

I guess another option, could be a wheel clamp - highly visible deterrent?

Thanks, but if it was a marked car as such (which usually these are), would they not just come back another night with their own steering wheel replacement?

Quite possibly. TBH if someone really wants to steal it, they will. Whether that is lifting it with a tow truck, breaking in and driving it away.
I think there are only so many security devices you can apply. If it is not being driven have you thought about secure storage?

Thanks, yeah I agree.

I drive it once a week so storage is probably not something that suits for now.
