Air con repairs - need to be a Porsche specialist?
Discussion
Hi all - I have a Gen 2 911 and there are issues with the heating and air con.
The blowers make a squeaking noise when on and I don't think the temperature regulates well.
My local Porsche specialist has quoted £470 to look at the blower noise and £560 to replace both condensors.
I have my other repairs and servicing done at the Porsche specialist, but is there a need for air con to be fixed there or could I go to an air con specialist and likely get this work done cheaper without devaluing the car?
Thoughts?
Thanks
Susan

It's most likely the blower bearing needs replacing. I did it myself in my 987.1 CS at the weekend and it was a £16 part off ebay and 1 hour (mostly getting the glovebox off).
I had the same symptoms and would start with that before doing anything massive.
If you manually turn the fans up to max does it change the noise? Mine changed with the fan speed. If it does I'd put it down to the blower which should be a fairly cheap and simple DIY fix.
