Heres a couple of pics of my front brake pads (std ones) after 2k miles on the road and ONE track day.

bloomin eck - I've tracked with the standard pads before and all I got was lots of wear and early fade - never cracked like that.

So your options now are basically Pagid or Performance Friction Carbon Metallic. I had the PF pads before and stopping power was good, but lots of dust which ate the wheels. Now on Pagid orange - seem to be less dusty, but need extreme bedding and not so clever on the road.

DaGringe,
yeah im on the pagid now but they are noisey as hell.
I have to admit i was going for it on the track day.Ended up with brake failure due to the fluid boiling up, that was a tad scary. I have also noticed alot of brake dust with the pagid, do you reckon they will damage the alloy?

The dust can eat alloys - just keep cleaning it off - I change my pads between the standard and pagid for road/track use because of the dust and noise getting on my nerves on the road.

Were you doing cooling-down laps? Only reason I can think for the cracking you saw would be no cooldown? Are the discs ok, would have thought pads in this condition would destroy the discs also.

yeah plenty of cool down laps, think i was leaving it a tad late on the braking but thats half the fun of the track day for me.Discs are looking tired too, there cracked but not all the way from hole to hole yet! Come the 9th at Bedford there going to be fit for the skip.I too am going to change from std to pagid according to use.

interesting.... i've done 3 track days on 1 set of pads and have not noticed any problems with braking yet. pads seem to be fine, and the discs are only showing tiny cracks. am up on bedford on the 9th and will be putting the car in for a checkup the following day in time for the jaunt down to le mans the following week...

what did you braking feel like that made you realise all was not well?
