Any reports from Spa?
Discussion
Got back late last night, went out last Saturday and did the ring 1st.
Playing GT4 on the play ststion solid for the last few weeks really helped !!
Spa is just awesome, Eau Rouge has got to be the most daunting bit of track i have ever seen.
Managed 154mph down the Kemel straight, before toasting the brakes.
The whole area is gorgeous, and i would say you have got to drive it at least once in your track life.
I stayed in great Hotel with the Titanic boys, Steve Rance, Sean Dudding and the like, and had an absolute hoot. They are a great bunch of guys.
The Hotel was taken over by 20+ GT3's /RS's and was an amazing site.
I'm now on a real downer, as the reality of work bites back !!

glad to hear you had a good time Glenn.
How many laps of the ring did you do?
Was it wet/dry?
still dreaming of the trip, but baby is due soon, so Ill only get an evening track day in June, then will have to wait till August at least.
BTW, got rid of the Honda (Piston went through big end-ouch) Now have a new Black Scooby STI (with PPP)
Hopefully will track it august.
(I always seem to end up buying a performance car when my wife is pregnant...something psychological methinks)

Tiff,
Did 5x laps of the Ring, for some reason, i found that 5 x laps= one whole trackday at say Bedford and the like, as it is very demanding !!
We think a biker got killed in the morning, and plenty of cars span off during the day, most of which were expensive !!
I managed 8:30 bridge to gantry which isn't too bad for a newby.
You have just got to do Spa though, it's awe inspiring !!
Sorry to hear about the Honda. So now you're part of the Scooooby club, best get it out to the ring mate.

glenn,
what's so good about spa? not been there but it's on my list...
btw, saw your comment about gt4 helping you out at the ring. just bought a ps2 with gt4 at lunch to start practicing for my trip down - whenever that might be...! is spa on gt4?
Spa is just an amazingly scenic place, and you'd never believe that there is a race track in the middle of the woods in the hills.
I don't think Spa is on PS2, you need a Grand Prix game for that.
I'm doing a weekend trip to the ring in July 9th+10th, let me know if you fancy it.

Glenn,
Eau Rouge is awesome, but what about Pouhon?? Ain't that just a mad feeling throwing the car in there and just hanging on. I think iimanaged 127 out of the second part under the brige, sitting right on the rumble strips!!
Or blancimont flat...
What a circuit!!
Yes, blanchemont 1 was a hold on tight moment, there was talk of taking B2 flat, but i couldn't see it, just a lift b4 turn in, then power on at the exit, one of the fastest corners i've done i reckon.
Pouhon, yes it took me a while to get the faith to commit fully to it, but when i did it was very rewarding.
Awesome circuit.

Yes - awesome circuit. If you want more details on why i thought it was great read on....
The first thing i noticed about the circuit is the ambience - its in a great setting surrounded by lush forest.
The circuit itself is steeper than i thought. Standing at the bottom of Eau Rouge, you realise how steep it really is.
Then the track itself. Its got some mesmerising series of bends full of features - which i'm still replaying in my mind. Theres loads of rubber down on the strips which kind of give the line away too which really helped me.
A lot of the F1 drivers say its their favourite track and i can see why.
Eau rouge is the most talked about - the drop to which is steep downhill and very fast, then a dip, left, right and then blind brow onto a long (1km+ straight). The run through the dip and turn need total commitment.
My favourite bit though is Pouhon - as Bas said, throw the car in, hold a lock and don't lift!!
Blanchimont 1 was a long sweeping left hander which is flat throughout - carried at speeds that weren't to be believed by me when i did the first sighter lap of the 2 days - B2 can't be flat, not for me with the speed you carry through to that point.
Overall, my favourite track of all the ones i've done - & full of features compared to our F1 circuit here in the UK
Cheers

After calming down but still grinning from the fantastic last few days i got round to cleaning the car and the loathsome task of cleaning the wheels of brake dust and so off they come and JEEZ!
Look wot I found!!!! and look at the size of the SOB....
Hope I can get another Dunlop SSR otherwise this is going to be one expensive puncture.
Good job it was in so far otherwise god knows what might have happened

I heard a few Porsches had problems - any news?
Hi Guy.
There were a couple of problems, but not that many. My car was faultless. The driver was bollox, mind.
It was a brilliant couple of days follwed by a dodgy one at the Ring for some of us (see my post on the other thread).
I am off to bed now, but I will post some pics tomorrow from Spa. What a top couple of days!!
