2015 Porsche Cayenne GTS - owners thoughts?
Discussion
So, I’m looking at swapping my F15 BMW 5.0 V8 for a 2015 Porsche Cayenne GTS.
Man maths aside, I’ve come up with the following “boss” beating arguments for the switch:-
1) it’s smaller and therefore easier to park
2) it’s a 3.6 litre V6 and therefore more economical
3 it will retain its value better
Now, what kind of mpg do people really get out of this combined? My BMW is about 12mpg combined. I’ve only ever owned 911’s in the past - is the GTS a good model to buy in the range, what are the pitfalls?
Any advice appreciated. Car in question has £20k of options. Cheers

I have a MY2015 Cayenne turbo, also thought about a BMW M5 as an alternative.Man maths aside, I’ve come up with the following “boss” beating arguments for the switch:-

1. Are you sure ?? they are massive
2. 12 MPG, holy moly, I get 19 MPG short journeys and giving it grief, mid-20s on a long run and seen 28 on a steady 60 MPH over an hour, I'd expect a GTS to 50% better.
3. Only if you buy well, there is a lot of inflated prices out there, my MY2015 Turbo (high spec) was sub £40k, in 2 years time I expect it to be late £20's
Bought mine in May 1 owner from new fpsh 18k miles 17 car with 15k of extras from new.
Came from an S8 previously needed something more practical.
I’m amazed the Bm is larger but have never compared tbh so can’t argue. The GTS looks much sleeker than most and the lowered suspension and decent wheels help the overall look.
Mpg average over about 4k miles has been 24.5 as i left the one trip running over the whole period with over 30+ on long runs on the motorway. Observing the speed limits due to those nasty little yellow cameras
Performance is strong for the weight and size of the car and she genuinely does lift up her skirt and go when you want her too and makes a decent noise with the sports exhaust. Although I find myself driving much slower than in the S8 which is no bad thing.
Great motor I have air suspension and 21” rims which seems to give a decent ride, although its quite firm around the potholed town roads.
Done some long journeys and the seats are very comfy which was a worry for me as they weren’t as adjustable as the S8.
Great big fuel tank too so less stops, and maximises the 10p off a litre offers
Must say though I shopped around a lot sold my S8 and got mine for a couple of k more than your looking at with remainder of the porsche warranty which I will extend. Had it fully detailed and ceramic coated and she looks stunning
Hope this is useful

Thank you. This is a really useful post. Yes, I was looking at the dimensions last night and it’s only marginally smaller than the BMW but it’s still smaller, so I can argue the case. I think that visually, due to the design etc it does give the impression of being smaller, which is no bad thing. Came from an S8 previously needed something more practical.

Yes, if I look around at all the GTS cars for sale right now, the £47k asking pricing doesn’t seem out of line (similarly specced cars from Porsche used approved are listed for £59k although clearly have 2 years warranty etc. This being said, this car has sat around for some time now and from what you and the other poster said, it looks like I should be paying below £40k for it.
How reliable has it been? I seem to have rotten luck with cars so always go the manufacturer warranty route for peace of mind
I've only had her since May but no issues, and I couldn't see her having had any warranty work prior from the paperwork just the service. Seems to be decent on tyres too mine still has the originals on which will be changed soon for the winter, they are less than £200 each if you shop around. The car in the ad has the same wheels a mine so check for any damage they do a good job of protecting the tyres
I shall be heading to the local Porsche dealer to extend the warranty which won't be cheap but I did save a fair amount on the motor so will bite the bullet I think as I aim to keep her around two years.
I have to say after test driving most of the new larger SUV's I found this to be a breath of fresh air and it handles amazingly well for a very large shed

The one in the ad looks a decent spec too so would have been closer to 90K new at my reckoning. I was shocked when I saw the list on mine (I have the original invoice and build sheet)
Let us know how you get on
Cheers

Cheers, from speaking to the local Porsche dealer they say £1700 for 2 years warranty after 3 months. The car needs a major service in September which would be about £900. Obviously the selling garage have said they would do that themselves but no, thanks.
