As above. Not many owners ticked this option. Were these same seats fitted to any other Porsches ?

Yes, same as available on other 996's. Personally I don't find them that good or comfortable (my turbo had comforts, but a friend had sports ones in his GT2), which is unusual for Porsche. My 964 sports were great, as are my 981 sports+ ones now.

I had the sports seats in a 993 C4 and found them tight across the shoulders. I currently have the comfort seats in my 996 turbo X50 and they're very comfortable with heating and memory settings.

I certainly wouldn't spend extra for them, the 996 GT3 buckets would be another option at a price (but would restrict rear access).

I find the comfort seats awful - I have the sports seats in my 996.1 and my friend has the same car but with the comforts. He much prefers mine, and he's a bigger lad than me.

So it's very much horses for courses. For me, a sports car needs decent support in the seats, but then I enjoy spirited driving.

986. Often labeled as hardback sports seats.

Thanks for the replies. I imagine that the sports hardback seats are a tad lighter than the 996 Turbos std fit comfort seats.

Trying to find a 996 Turbo in the colour and spec that i particularly want ( 02 on, manual, black, rhd or lhd and with the sports seats option ticked, is not easy.

The comfort seats, just are not suportive enough for my knackered back.
Im thinking of a Recaro Pole Position for the drivers side. These are less than half of the weight of an E46 M3s seat and i imagine they are considerably lighter than the Turbos comfort seats.
Any other seats that could be fitted ?

Cobra Nogaros will fit as I've just had a pair put in my 996 (pic of another install below from the web) & they can be fitted with runners to provide adjustment for varying driver heights if required. Cobra will also trim your seat to match your existing interior, subject to your budget

Trying to find the ideal spec is a minefield and you may have a long wait.

If you find the right car with the comfort seats take it. The sports seats are relatively easy and cheap to buy second hand if required.

Yes, you are right.
Was also hoping to find a car with a red interior, but these seem to be like hens teeth.
Some of the interior colour schemes out there though are frankly bizarre.
Cinamon, inc the dash, grey everywhere, maroon, inc the dash!

Its been a few years since I was searching for a turbo but black and sports seats was not that difficult, manual reduces the pool by 50% or more

Sports seats are lighter because they lose most of the electric adjustment and memory functions (which is why many kept the comfort seats), I was never impressed with either seat to be honest - comfort lacked support and sports were just tight everywhere (and I am not fat). I ended up in a 997 turbo (budget creep) and the 997 seat range was a big improvement from the 996.

They look good. How are you finding these comfort wise ? I am quite wide in the hip.

Thanks for reply. How are you getting on with the 997 T ?

Loved it, although maintenance costs became tiresome

My daughter out grew the back seats so swapped it for a Macan turbo a year ago

Viewed one which was optioned with the hard back sports seats.
The seats in this one had electric adjustment for the backs only. Hight adjust and back / forwards were both manual.
Found them really comfy, perhaps could do with a tad more lower back support, but the drivers seat will have sagged a little due to mileage and different owners.
