Hi peeps,

Long time member rarely post but do lurk hugely smile

I have a cayman 5sp (2.7 987) that has a weird characteristic of from 1st to 2nd you can over “move the lever back” which means as the clutch engages the lever moves forward a centimetre.

Is this standard behaviour?

Either through conscious shifting or delaying the up change I can get past noticing it, but it feels strange as all of the other gears are like rifle bolts it’s the 1st to second that “over” engages???

It’s my second Porsche but my first was a very unloved 986 boxster which didn’t do this?

Mods can we move this to the boxster/cayman forum?

It’s my post but I posted in the general chat following a post I found on google from Barry at Hartech

My 2.7 987 does the same , also only in second gear. It's become more noticeable in the last 12 months, I don't know if it was there before (I've owned it 2.5 years). I've presumed it's the gear/linkages weakening or wearing as opposed to expected behaviour but this is a guess.

I think it’s wear as mine is old and low mileage and probably had a lot of town driving.

It’s an odd feeling as it the Stick moves either lightly in my hand or out of the corner of my eye!

Will take it to Porsche or my local specialist to get sorted. Didn’t need this before xmas but so it is
