How much do the bits of a Porsche weigh? eg engine, gearbox, clutch, seats, wheels, exhaust, bodyshell etc etc.

I'm looking to lose weight, just interested in how the total weight of my 964 is made up.

Weight loss is scattered about the car.

Junk the seats first. Put in lightweight shell seats, like in the RS. Junk rear seats. Maybe 20kgs saved.

Mag wheels would save a few kgs a corner, but are expensive. Again, maybe 20kgs overall though.

You could then contemplate the more expensive and impractical solutions; removal of carpet, headlinging, sunvisors, add plexi glass windows, replace doors with carbon doors, bonnet with carbon bonnet, smaller battery, remove any air con and unnecessary accessories.

Don't worry about engine and box - you need them and they're not a big problem. Ask Tony T about weight loss in standard 964s as he's been there, done it, with a hand from ninemeister.

LOL, OK, that makes a small difference then

I re-read your original post to make sure, as well!

I'm only guessing, but it's probably about 250kgs for the shell, 200kgs for the engine, 70kgs for the box. Not sure where you would find more technical info... a race team perhaps?
