Golf is massive now, the current Polo is bigger than the Mk1/2
911 has got bigger but I don't personally agree with those who say it is not a sports car - it is not a GT in my mind in terms of it's ethos, design, or how it drives
Modern sports cars are bigger but that doesn't make them not sports cars
A Caterham is a sports car but is quite an extreme & track focused car - it's really a track car that can be driven to the track and back on the road

I bought a new VW Polo for my eldest recently and I was stunned by the size of it - feels bigger than a Golf of only a couple of generations ago. 911's are now too big in my humble opinion, but such is the price of progress.
Trouble is as the human race is progressively getting fatter and fatter their chosen mode of transport has to follow suit..Its like pig sty in that they need to be built big enough to accommodate the largest pig..anonymous said:

I think it looks quite small when you look how all the other cars are on the road esp how low the 991 shape is also.so while the 911 has grown, it's smaller than the cars we see today on our roads.
Merc, M5 even the M2's are Big cars.
if I park my Golf infront of the 911 you cannot it. let alone the SUV market or a modern saloon.
