Hi,

Has anyone heard when allocations will become available in the uk and any proposed build dates.

When can we expect cars to be available in the dealer showrooms?

I enquired at Sheffield about a Taycan 4S this week and they were saying they have slots allocated and expected cars in May/June 2020 - interestingly they are usually good on offering a discount, however, they said there would be no discount on the Taycan. (we will see once i start hawking the build code round a few dealers chasing car numbers!!) Hope this helps?

Can confirm the above after recent conversation at Cambridge OPC, around the summer.

I’ve ordered a Turbo S both here and in Germany, and have heard nothing about any build date, or need to spec it yet.

I’m starting to wonder if the 4S might not be the better choice, given what I’ll use it for

I have a deposit down for a 4s (from the day they announced). Dealer told me they were getting 100 cars next year and 75 would be 4s. It appears that a 4s will come sooner than a turbo or turbo s, unless you were one of the very first depositors. There is an event on in London in December for people with names down, I am heading to that (got invite this week).

I had my name down like a year ago. £5k deposit paid in September for a Turbo. Offered a 4S or a Turbo with Dec lock down and late Jan/Feb 20 delivery. Also invited to London event. Going for the 4S as much cheaper and better car for my useage.

I've got a Taycan Turbo coming which is the best value by the time you spec the 4S up to the same level.IMO

Ive spec’d the 4S with £21k of options but it’s still at least £28k cheaper than Turbo with the same bits added plus the PCP monthlies are at least £400 a month cheaper on the same terms. 4S therefore better for me.

You've gone into deeper than i have..Interesting point that the PCP monthlies are so much cheaper..Is that with the extra £21K added to the list price.?

Yes. If you spec your 4S and Turbo give your dealer the code they can then send you PCP numbers to you based on your spec.

The 4S has better residuals than a Turbo as well.

I can understand the better residuals for the base car but you’d think £21k of extras would be expensive on a residual front.

Ive tried and tried but to get the 4S to a decent spec you still need at least £15k of options.

Its similar on the Turbo too though...add a paid colour, decent wheels, upgraded sound and a few gizmos and you’re adding another £12-15k on top of the already higher list price.

Anyone heard of an 8-10 week delay on their car (4s) ?

No but from what I am hearing not many people want their car before April 2020 anyway (0% BIK from April 2020) so maybe Porsche has clocked on to this to delay UK bound production for a few weeks?

As a % from figures I was told today it’s the other way round...and maybe outright too.

Sounds like OPC’s are getting 100 cars a year which is roughly what you’d expect based on the 3000 in the UK. 4S is going to be the volume model making up 60% of that number with the rest split between Turbo and Turbo S. Only thing that concerns me is not having the tax breaks others will get to buy this car that it will have a negative impact on residuals....so PCP would make sense as you can protect yourself to an extent.

I'll be using PCP for my Turbo for the same reasons and look at it as a depreciation insurance policy..The Turbo is extremely well equipped as standard without having to tick a single extra cost option box..The big one for me is the Panoramic roof as i feel a Taycan without it could be a difficult resale in two years time..
I'm going with Gentian blue and sticking with the standard 20'' rims to avoid penalising the electric range..I'm undecided on RAS which i don't have on my new Cayenne Coupe and i don't really miss it as of yet..Its a must have on 991s and to a lesser extent 992s.
The tax savings i'll be taking full advantage of..Any high rate tax payer needs to wangle either 0% BIK or as a self employed business owner if possible..
I'm sure Cheib with some creative accounting you'll be able to reduce your tax liability when you purchase your Taycan..

Harry Metcalfe has been running an EV....tweeted about it’s lack of green credibility

https://twitter.com/harrym_vids/status/11964369612...

Be interesting to see what hie says in his video. As he says in a later tweet because of the huge problem of how we generate electricity in this country it’s doing fk all for the environment unlike France where they have a large Nuclear generation programme. Green peace did a terrific job campaigning against Nuclear power generation in the 1980’s.........they got that very, very wrong didn’t they.

Like it it or loathe it, modern clean nuclear power plants are the only truly reliable source of electricity if the UK has any hope of full electrification of all road vehicles.

Indeed....unfortunately most of the UK’s were built in the 60’s!
