Have to have my windscreen changed on my 993 tommorow by auoglass, does anyone have any advice of what and what no to do.

Having had the car completely sorted now I am bloody nervous of someone scratching or damaging it.

Or maybe its just me being over sensitive ? !!!

I do recall that it's important that they bond the windscreen rather than just fit it, something that may not be possible from the tools in the back of their van.

If not done properly, there might be leaks, rust or worse!

make sure you don't lose the cars chassis number plaque that sits in the bottom left. Bit of a lottery really with the bonding....993 screens can creak at the best of times.

Had my 996 done last week (by RAC Windscreens in Canterbury, as it happens)..did a spanking job, don't worry too much about it! There's a protective clear layer that sits under the rubber seal, presumably to help prevent removal tools from scratching paint...

As mentioned above, these guys fitted new beading around the edge (I think they also siliconed it on) to prevent the 996-usual prob of delaminating corners.

Make sure, if you have overall tint and tinted top strip, and aerial running down the screen, that these guys know exactly what they're ordering...green tint and strip is known as "Green on green"....apparently.

Dont know about 993's, but for 996's the bonnet needs to also come off to gain access to the aerial connector in the bottom right (drivers) corner.

Glad I did it, no more misty delaminating corner!

Hope this helps,
S
