I was thinking of replacing the Range Rover, The issue is the wife likes it.

Previously we had an A8 and a CL600 which she also like so I am hoping I can ween her away from the big SUV.

The trouble as always is the budget but there seem to be a few 3L diesels and the odd 4.8V8 for between £20-25K.

Is buying one of these a bad idea? Why? what do I need to know?

All the normal questions and advice sought.

Cheers

I’ve driven one of these a fair bit (the v8 400hp)

It’s just a big fast car nothing else reallly. The paddle shifters are terrible which is poor form for a Porsche.

I also have a SLK Kleemann S8 which has the Mercedes paddles which are also crap. The Panamera is to give the wife a nice comfortable car.Previous choices were an Audi S8 and a Mercedes CL 600AMG. She prefered the Audi but I found it souless and dull to drive. The RR is fine for what it is but I don't like the big 4x4 thing

You’re more likely to find owners in the Porsche section.

Perhaps a mod could do the honours?

Bought a 2010 Turbo this summer. If you get your head around what it is, which is a great big family hatchback, with a drink problem, it's an absolutely wonderful place to spend time. Lovely interior, PDK works on all three modes for what you are asking of it, and that engine just delivers smile

Fantastic cars; you don't hear much about them, because they rarely give cause for complaint.

If you're bothered about the paddle-shifts - which are really counter-intuitive, I agree - TechArt do a paddle-shift conversion which was remarkably good value last time I looked. In fact, I might get one for my Turbo, now I think about it.

Check out p.68 of the TechArt brochure: https://www.tech-9.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2019/0...

Tech9 are their UK agents.
