Not sure whether this is the best place for this post but I guess many here will have had paintwork done in the past

Many moons ago before my ownership (~2016) my Cayman had a light parking scrape on the rear quarter which left a very shallow ding and some scuffed paint. It was fixed via a smart repair and the dent was filled rather than removed. Whilst the repair has held up well, it isn't doing any favours for my OCD (ie. when you wash it, you can see where the primer has sunk a bit and where the original scuff wasn't flatted sufficiently).

After the next season of track days I'm planning to have it redone but what I would ideally like is for somebody to dig out the old repair, remove the dent properly, and then paint it. It's easily accessible from behind (via the vent) and you can see the extent of the "damage" below...(the dent circled in red is probably 1.5cm wide. This is the back of the panel)

So:

1. Is it possible to remove an old dent? I have heard that metal loses its "memory" after a while
2. if so, is this something most bodyshops could do or would they all go want to go down the filler route?
3. If it is possible, what kind of place would be best to go to (ie. classic car restorer, high end bodyshop etc). I don't mind paying but I want it down properly and done once
4.Any recommendations around Oxfordshire? I've heard that Riveria in Wallingford are good and somebody recommended JFBodyworks.

Thanks in advance

Yep, easily fixed.

Just give to a decent bodyshop, they will rub out the old filler, remove the dent and then repair properly though the new repair will still probably require a very thin skim of filler to remove any signs of the previous repair before re-painting.
