Revolution Porsche - Protection Plan - Zunsport/Bosch
Discussion
I've been speaking to Russ and Danny at Revolution as I've been tempted by their Protection Plan for my 2014 981C...
If you recall, my OPC refused a second extension to my warranty due to Zunsport grilles being fitted and so at present I'm "self insuring" with the savings I've made.
But my wife's recent £10,000+ repair bill for her BMW (fortunately she'd extended the warranty into the 4th year) means she keeps worrying about my more expensive repair bills should something go wrong.
Revolution's plan is £102/mth. Roughly £30 of that covers all parts and labour for scheduled servicing over the next 6 years (after which the car will be crushed by the Govt.).
So, I pay £70/mth for peace of mine which includes all labour for anything which needs doing. Brakes, rads, engine, whatever.
I pay only for the parts.
Now the Porsche warranty would pay for labour AND parts of course BUT that's if they agree it's not a "wear & tear" item. Whereas Revolution's plan pays for the labour for everything which goes wrong.
My recent 6yr service included a new (Bosch) battery (wear & tear item) and A/C condenser (wear & tear item) and with the service the total labour cost was over £1,000 (parts £700).
To me, without removing my Zunsport Grilles or Bosch battery (Revolution are fine with both of these) I can have some peace of mind that even if I took the grilles off, put a Porsche battery in, had an OPC service, 111 point check, and extended the warranty, my OPC is never going to say "Ah... you see sir that's wear and tear and so not claimable", and it'll keep my wife happy insofar as something going wrong isn't a total disaster.
Or... I can put £70 into the "pot" each month and carry on self insuring?
Each of you will have their own opinion as to whether Revolution's Protection Plan is worthwhile but if you have taken it out, what's your experience been?

I’ve sort of considered this, but at £1200+ a year it’s an expensive option, (given you get 2 years of Porsche warranty for that price), then what happens if your PDK (for example) craps out, the fact you save the several hundred pound labour cost in replacing the box is neither here nor there compared to the new PDK box.
I’ve had two Warranty claims, both for adaptive drive chain mounts, part cost approx £1000 labour 3-4 hrs, so again, you might save 25% of the bill. Doesn’t seem like great value to me.

Depends when the PDK box fails. My car will be 6yrs old in May and at that point I have no statutory rights in connection with manufacturing defects. I'm fairly sure a PDK box failure claim under a Porsche warranty would, in my car's case, be refused as wear and tear and so I'd be paying for parts and labour. With Revolution the labour would be covered, albeit small in comparison to the part cost..I’ve had two Warranty claims, both for adaptive drive chain mounts, part cost approx £1000 labour 3-4 hrs, so again, you might save 25% of the bill. But as I said, the service and repairs I just had showed labour as 60% of the total not 25%. I'd have saved £1,000+ in labour plus all part costs for the service.
OPC extended warranty prices are daylight robbery imho.
I've recently had a look at approved used Lexus ISF in Sidcup (London). It comes with 1 year warranty, and extended warranty for 2 years on top is 795 GBP in total. It's a 5.0l V8 engine, and Lexus parts are not cheap, but comparing to OPC prices, Porsche must have technicians that have phds from "Institut für Flat-6 de motor" in Stuttgart
