I’ve had a bit of a squeak for a few days and on a long drive realised it’s a broken spring. I’ve had the 911 for 7 months and got 3yrs OPC warranty. Anyone know if it’ll be covered due to the time since purchase or will it be classed as wear and tear?

Just wondering that being the case if I should just take it to a local garage instead and have them fix it.

I broke (or had break!) a front spring on mine. Due to age at the time they advised have a pair fitted to maintain even stance and handling. Not a warrantee job in my case.

Ok thanks. I’ll call them tomorrow and see what they think. I’ve got a couple of good garages locally who could do it save me a st ton.

Had a spring fail on mine which damaged the shock absorber, warranty was rejected but after some negotiation eventually got the OPC to agree to 50/50 on the repair which was 2 x new rear shocks and springs. Probably depends on the relationship you have with them. Good luck.

I would have thought it would be covered as it is a major component and would ring your local OPC to ask the question before you made any other arrangements.

Springs aren't on the wear and tear list; dampers are. In the current situation, lodge the failure with your OPC via email (include mileage/date and photographic evidence if possible) that can be referenced when we are all back to work.

I had a broken rear coil spring back in 2018

Opc replaced both rear springs,

didn't cost me a penny

Which OPC replaced them under warranty as OPC Burgess Hill are denying the claim on a 2017 GTS with 15k miles ?

OP, this is definitely a warranty claim.

If they try and say it is wear and tear you need to point out that the other spring on the same axle (assuming it is the same age as the one that broke) has not failed and therefore the broken one has failed prematurely i.e. a sudden failure due to an inherent defect and is covered by the warranty.

Hopefully they will just sort it without issue noting that springs should be changed in pairs.

Best of luck.

Glasgow. They replaced both rears when one went a couple of years ago too.

There have been recent revisions to the cover in the last year or so, so this may be why your OPC is rejecting the cover.

Teeside replaced both rear springs under warranty after one broke on my 2016 S earlier this year, that was at 104k - no quibble, wear and tear was never even mentioned.

The less than £30/month Seat All-In plan provides each year 1 service, 1 MOT, breakdown cover & warranty. When the car was 7 years old the warranty covered replacing a broken spring. Considering the car's age, & the state of the roads, I was astonished.

To what age would a Porsche extended warranty replace a broken spring? Asking for a friend.

Ironically this is my post from years ago, raked up yesterday and today my rear spring has gone again.

My car is on the last year of its warranty, so it’s covered until it’s not.
