Just put another pair of Pirelli assimetricos on the rear. When all four tyres are up for change at the same time I will probably try the Continental Sport Contact 2 as used by rods, MOD500 and Herr Ruf on his 600bhp+ demo RTurbo....

Yea I have, just brought some 315/25/19 from Elite in Essex, best price I could find at £215 inc VAT and fitting/balancing etc etc.

I was planning to switch from Pzero to Michelin PS2 next time - supposedly better wet handling and more rim protection.

Anyone have good/bad things to say about the PS2s?

John, do you find the tyres rub on the arches with the 315's?

Will need to replace all 4 on my TT quite soon so eager to hear thoughts on tyres. Currently have PZero's which are OK but sure could be improved on.

A question though. Porsche only reccommend Pirelli PZero's or Continental Sport Contact 2's for the 911.

So would fitting another make have any effect on your insurance if you had to claim ??

I also need 2 new rears, but will be sticking with Pirelli P'Zero's.
I changed from Toyo Proxes to Bridgestone 3's which were recommended by several places when I had the Tuscan and the handling was truly awful.
Felt very nervous in the corners, even on the straight it would start pulling to the left or right.
This was the case from immediately fitting them tohaving done 3k on them when I changed them back, which totally cured the problem.
Might be a bad experience, but I am more than happy with the way the car handles, so will be going for direct replacements.
Anyone else had bad experiences or was this a one off?

On the engineers report/loss aadjuster they only mentioned the tyre tread depth not the brand. - which were Pzero's

Maybe ask your insurer and keep notes?

Ro,

Doesn't matter anyway, Conti SportContact's are the best IMHO if the car is predominantly road use and all weather.

More track time, then PS2's might well be better suited.

You could try blackcircles.com, always seemed cheap to me although have not actually used them. They give discounts for some car clubs as well.

Also what mileage would you normally expect from the tyres? I have a 996TT I bought earlier this year. It still has the original tyres just reaching the end of their life at the rear at 12,000 miles. That is more than I was expecting, does this mean the previous owner didn't give it too much stick, or do they normally last that long?

12,000 miles on rears on a TT? How'd you manage that?

What tyres have you got?

Just the standard Pirelli's. Everything suggests it has had a really gentle life (until I got it at 8k miles), and in fact most of the last 2k miles has been motorway around Europe as well.

I take it 12k is longer than usual !!

mogv8,

6k miles out of the rears on my 993tt, i would expect similar on most 996tt's, about twice that on the fronts.
