Bought a second set of rims, so want to run normal road tyres on the standard rims, what do people recommend?

Ian at Silverline recommended - Pirelli P Zero Rosso N5

Cheers,

Mark

I run the Corsa R (track tyre) on the other rims. I take it you don't mean them.

The Corsa System are they new?

I'd stay off the Rosso's they are terrible if you are a spirited driver. Slip allover teh place no traction.

Pzero Corsa as fitted to the GT 3RS or a Pzero Assymetrico as was original spec.

You could alos use Michelin Pilot Sport ( although soft and prone to punctures)
(reference in terms of SA roads, i here the potholes and so are not too different in the UK)

Corsa System are relatively new and road tyres. If I understood well they were developed for the 360CS. The pattern is 'similar' to the Corsas you have. The GT2 from the guy in GT&Purely Porsche was equiped recently with those and he talked really well. I'm sure I've seen some other threads recently about who sells there tyres in the UK.

Dunlop SSR's are very good for road & track - also very cheap!

Thanks for the replies.

But, just re iterate, I am after purely a road tyre, not a road/track tyre. I have the Pirelli Corsa R's for the track.

Anybody else got any comments?

Many thanks,

Mark

I would try the Pilot Sports, they were designed for the Mk2.....

But when I had my Mk2 I used the Corsa Track tyre as a road tyre also, it really is a good tyre....

Sean,

I like to have a normal road tyre for everyday because they last much longer and are cheaper. Also they double up as a wet tyre for the track.

Anyway I have two sets of wheels - no point putting the same tyres on both!

Michelin PS are a good tyre - didn't realise they were original fitment.

Cheers, Mark

Mark,

Pirelli PZero Corsa System with the Porsche N6 rating, a very good road tyre with good wet weather characteristics, differentiated from the Corsa track tyre by a series of radial grooves to disperse water.

Sorry Mark......you would not believe how many CSL's I've had offered to me, just got to get a figure on the wife's X3 hehehe.

Corsa System:

www.pirelli.co.uk/en_GB/tyres/catalog/tyre_product.jhtml?selected=desc&catid=UK_UHP&productid=11767

The point to note is that it runs Directional on the Front, Asymmetrical on the rear, so the fronts clear the water for the rears.

Talk to the guys at Silverline, they recommended them to me.

A very humble Damian.

When i spoke to Ian of Silverline this morning he suggested the P Zero Rosso, curious as to why he didn't suggest the Corsa System?

No problem with the PM - just thought you weren't interested!

Mark,

an awesome road tyre with excellent wet traction is alos the Pirelli P Zero Assimetrico. ran these as a road tyre and used for porsche club time trials and they were excellent all rounders with good wea rates without being too soft.
Michelin Pilot sports were too soft and the p zero ross'os not rated for a gt3

Corsa N6 standard RS fitment are great tyres for the road and very good on track too. If you do go for these I have a brand new pair of fronts that I want to sell, I bought a whole set but only needed the rears. Drop me a mail if you are interested.
