I am considering ordering a 992 and have been offered a mid October delivery date, I can't get any discount from the dealer, is my expectation of a discount unrealistic.. Last time I bought a new one was in 2005 and all I got was £500 uplift on a trade in. No trade in this time; your experiences would be appreciated.

People were getting discounts but that may have changed....there’s been talk of reduced production. Right now market seems healthy....ironically come October it might not be. I suspect you might get offered free Gtechniq, maybe a little bit more if you take some finance.
I've been told likely Q4 for 992 delivery if order placed now. My impression is that there aren't many build slots for anything and timing of allocations is far from clear. Porsche are making it a seller's market for new cars.

Thanks for all your replies, looks like it is a sellers market at the moment...
I think ‘yes’ and ‘no’. It’s a much smaller market but there is a lot of positive activity for certain models.
And dealers are making hay while the sun shines.
Could be very different in a couple of months.
Porsche will be cautious about ramping up production too quickly.
Mine was delivered to the dealer the day before lockdown and I have just picked it up.
I was offered about the VAT off of the ceramic coating. They waived the extra road tax increase and a small contribution towards finance about 1% of the overall price. All very much appreciated. I don’t think you will get any sort of discount you can get with other brands. Might be worth waiting to see what happens with VAT.
I actually like the fact they hold firm on their pricing.
Good luck.

85 x 992s for sale at OPC, its hardly a sellers market. With no trade in, you are in a great position to shop around. Or you can save 10+% by buying a lightly used demo.
Thing is that’s a lot less than a couple of months ago...was up at 130 or 140. That’s what they’ll care about...that and unsold allocations. There were plenty around a few months ago apparently not any more cc3 said:
My dealer has now sold all this years allocation in fact they have virtually nothing in any model left now as a new build unless they get given more allocation
They’ll get more cars. Porsche managing the supply/demand balance I think....trim volumes right back...wait for all the OPC’s to start beating the door down for more cars and gradually increase production whilst keepin an eye on Covid. I am sure the factory that’s the main reason factory isn’t at full capacity...safe working practices. GT3ZZZ said:
Discounts are fools gold if generally available, a route through to epic depreciation and shocking residuals, ask any McLaren owner.
Didn't stop this one losing 30k over 16 months and 4k miles though, although it seems a bit of a good buy at the price with hindsight, beautifully spec'd as well. https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2019-porsche-9...

Absolutely not. No one is buying anything just now, so it’s very much a buyers market. Just engage two dealers show them the colour of hour money and let them come to you with a deal.
That might not be a price reduction but there’s always something they can do like free or discounted options or tequipment stuff, child seat etc.
