968 race car conversion: sensible mods?
Discussion
Have posted before on this subject but am now getting close to a purchase on a cheap stock 968 (fingers crossed).
As per my previous post, conversion to uber-clubsport spec will involve lots of stripping, roll cage, bucket seats and harnesses, plus suspension and brake mods. At this stage, am not considering lightweight panels or engine mods, but maybe in time.
Had a chat with my local independent Porsche guy, and he suggests an H&R double spring suspension for racing, big reds brake conversion, custom made stainless steel exhaust (can be made for a very good price, otherwise would not be a priority for me), and 17" Cup wheels instead of the poverty spec 16s.
Any suggested improvements on the above (eg wheels - optimum handling on Porsche 17" or upsize to aftermarket 18"?)? Note that the car will probably only see the public road driving 20 km from home to the local track, so mostly smooth fast track work only.
Oh, and one final highly subjective point: I'm thinking of having the whole thing resprayed white with a red RS-style strip along the side and red wheels. Naff or cool?
All opinions gratefully received.

The white and red is definatly a COOL thing to do.. get yourself over to 968uk.co.uk and talk to the guys over there... Im pretty sure evrythings been tried and tested by at least one of them so everything you need to know about suspension and brakes will be answered. and they're a top bunch as well!! I think there is a lean towards the KW suspension set up at the mo...
KW adjustable coilovers or the Bilstein Escort Cup (as used on the 944 Turbo Cup cars prior to the Cup series moving to 964's ) suspension plus M030 ARB's is what you probably need for a lot of track use.
