Do u want to put your top up/down while driving?
Discussion
This will allow your convertible roof to open and close whilst driving...I got this info from a very reliable source, try it if you want....its free!! :D this only applies to 986 models...obviously!
OK
Remove the standard hood actuating relay and break off pin 18 and replace the relay.
This relay stops the top from operating while the car is moving by a voltage signal from the speedo...it receives this voltage through pin 18...therefore fooling the unit that the car is stopped.
However the handbrake microswitch must be activated to allow this to take place, so when raising or lowering the hood, lift the handbrake enough for the dash light to illuminate, this will fool the roof operation circuit that the car is indeed stopped with its handbrake applied.
BEWARE this will operate the hood at any speed, so great care must be taken, the roof WILL blow off or cause serious damage at over 25mph, and also may invalidate your warranty, and some countries may prosecute you for this too.
I can't personally think of any reason to lower the hood while driving, but raising it (when the great british summer rears its ugly head!!) prevents you getting wet!! if you want a new relay they are about 35 quid from Porsche
All that said anyone that can think of a way to mask out the pin and still allow it fit in the hole, please give your ideas.
So there you go....A 2005 spec roof for the price of two minutes work (and a pair of pliers)
NB i didn't tell you to do this, just telling you that it can be done!!!
Happy boxstering!

Hi if you want to do the job properly you can buy a replacement relay from www.Smarttop.de it costs a bit more than your method but is a bit more rational than breaking bits off. at 199 euros I think it was a well worthwhile addition to my boxter S. It will only operate under 25 mph so you shouldn't have your roof blowing off!
