Just bought my first Boxster and have found this site excellent especially the forum. Could someone tell me what is the best way of cleaning the hood, in the handbook it says use cold water.

Please dont shout as I am a novice, but can I use the Autoglym shampoo and restorer???

Please advise me as I dont want to ruin it!

Hi Katie,

Try www.porscheshop.co.uk they have an autoglym product for hoods, heres the description from the website...

Autoglym Cabriolet Hood Kit

Developed specifically for cleaning, re-proofing and preserving Convertible fabric hoods.

Price: £22.40 (Excluding: VAT at 17.5%)

I don't think that Autoglym products are endorsed by Porsche, but is endorsed by
Aston Martin
Jaguar
Ferrari, and the list goes on...so there's your endorsement, they are also the official car car suppliers to HM the Queen and the Prince of Wales

Hope this Helps
Chris

Hi Katie

I've owned mine for about a year and only really use water. However, I washed it, left to dry then hoovered any bits off it recently, then sprayed scotchguart heavy duty water repellent onto it. Looks excellent now. It was black, but more grey colour, the scotchguard darkens it slightly and protects the canvas from absorbing any water, so when it rains you get beads on it instead.

Great purchase, £8.50 i think it was
