3.2 makes growling noise on starting

anyone able to help with this one?several specilaists have told me its nothing to worry about and that "some of them just do that".at the point of starter motor beginning to turn it makes a lovely gravelly sort of grrrr noise. sounds like metal might be being grinded. has done it since i got the car. its had a new starter and noise remained the same. i actually like the sound, makes it sound like i'm starting a racing car and scares the neighbours.. but anyone ever heard this before? could it be causing damage? if not i'm really pleased to have it...but i have never ever heard a 911 make this noise.... any ideas?

Have you had one before/got anything to compare it to - hard to tell without actually hearing it but if you've had it checked by a specialist and they say it's OK I really wouldn't worry as they're all generally pretty clued up.
