I know a few people from here have been to view it etc and posted about it here. I can't understand why its not selling though? Is it really that much of a dog?

I know blue doesn't suit the car, but spec wise it looks decent, and the seal grey one they had seems to have sold in 2-3 weeks.

Noticeably, the price has dropped on it yet again. I think they've been advertising it since March though, which made me think selling on GT2s was a slow business, but the others that have appeared seem to have sold reasonably swiftly.

I had a look some time ago, the body work was quite rough - but what put me off were the cost of replacement discs either steel or ceramic.

I thought the ceramic ones on it were already showing signs of cracks from the holes. But im no expert. - also looked fully tracked was my impression.

Doe they still have the meridain 996tt x50? base spec - that was nice but I decided on a deep blue 996tt with all the toys

Thing is with GT2/3, they can sit there for ages for no reason, other than just being a specialist car..
When I was buying my car, I saw a silver GT3 down at Tonbridge OPC.. car was great spec with 5k miles and was priced at £64k, which compared to other OPCs was absoulte bargain.. Car had been unsold for 9 mths and is still for sale.!
Reason I did not buy it was, that it had comfort seats and I wanted buckets.

Yeah I've seen that car on the web for a while. Wrong seats for me too.

be sensible for them to offer it with buckets foc to a purchaser.

I had a little tete a tete with them over my tax on my first 996tt and trade in 996 targa. Trying to do me out of the road tax I had paid for by swapping my old one - also said 1 previous owner when it was 2 a bit cheeky but now resolved (car is written off)

Thats probably 1000 quid off their bottom line though, which likely means 1000 quid less for you to negotiate off!

Oh well, off to test a GT3 on Sat. After all this faffing on the Porsche forum, I hope I like 911s!

I looked at your original post on this car. Interesting that they say they got it in May as I saw a post on this forum refering to it in March.

I think its real problem is the colour though. Spending that kind of money on a car, I suspect few are willing to compromise on a crap colour. I know I'm not!

Must admit for me a GT2 has to be Silver or Black.

That's a common dodge. The log book shows 1 previous owner, then you have to add the one named on the document.

Whenever you see a car advertised as "x previous owners", its always had x plus 1.

I like it

Its the front slats above the bumper that make it look really naff. Black vs blue is vile.

Interior looks a bit scuffed and unloved too, and thats just going from poor web pics. I get the feeling the dealer can't be arsed doing proper prep work on this car.

Frankly, with the ceramics on the way out, it doesn't make a lot of sense.

Theres another GT2 I really like the look of but its been chipped which scares me witless. I need the warranty and it introduces too many unknowns even if it was flashed back to normal. (Apparently Porsche can see that the ecu has had the chip lifted to be modded if it goes back to them with a blown engine etc).

Problem with the car is that its a Widowmaker.

462bhp and no gizmos.

Fine for fun track days at Bedford. Better than fine in fact - utterly brilliant.

But this is not really a road car.

I'd have a Turbo every time for general and road use. It would appear that buyers agree with me.

If it was only the seats putting a buyer off - surely these could be changed. Especially with the substantial saving available...

Don,

Surely any car has the potential to be a 'widowmaker'...

Whilst I agree that the GT2 is a powerful rear wheel drive car with no gismos, owners shouldn't be relying on those gismos to keep the car on the road (in any car). In fact, I would say that gismos encourage people to drive beyond their capabilities knowing that the car will help 'save' them if they get out of shape.

Personally I don't think its the reputation thats the problem but the price itself. When I bought my GT3 recently I obviously looked at the GT2. I stuck with the GT3 in the end because I wanted normally aspirated and because the GT2 prices have fallen so far in the last 18 months to 2 years I was scared about if / when they would stop! I know this example is a little different but to lose £60k to £70k in two years is a scarey thought.
