So I’m looking again at the annual Porsche overs market. GT4 and Spyder’s trying to be flipped with overs of say £5K to £15k depending on spec..

Some of these cars have as little as 600 miles some even lower ..... Do we think these cars have been run in like they should ..? .or taken to the track to be thrashed and then taken back in .... I’m pretty sure the first owner of say a flipped GT4 hasn’t delicately followed the run in procedure and no doubt thrashed the knackers off it for those first 600 miles ...

Are these cars more problematic , ????? I’m struggling to see how someone could love a car which has been beaten by its first owner straight out of the box .. ... I’d always wonder how hard those miles have been....... especially if it’s a keeper for you the second owner ... does it also mean these cars end up with a life of 4-5 owners after 4 years and are never loved ..?!!

Don’t get me wrong on a car that has depreciated... its part of the package but these are deliberately bought, used and tried to be sold at overs ...I also understand there is a market and people seem to want them but I don’t get it ..... Surely the second owner is just going to have potentially more issues and they should be sold with even more of a Provenance than a new car ....

Is there a way of finding out how the car has been used .... It appears the computer can detect over revving but can one get a print out of its mileage against revs etc ..?

Interested to know everyone’s thoughts or experience or if anyone actually cares ..?!

I tend to treat my cars worse than other peoples’ Cars and certainly would not treat a car differently/worse just because I might sell it soon - if anything I would make sure it is tip top so I can sell it for the envisioned price etc

I agree I treat my cars exceptionally well ... But that’s people like us ... I just wonder if being lucky enough to get a car and knowing you are going to flip it ... which people do looking at the mileages ... ....the need to see what the car can do straight out of the box means these cars haven’t had the early love that they need and deserve ..?

A post that reminds me of religion. A simple assumption, which another assumption cites, yet another cites the previous, and so on, till you have the "proof" you want.

If i was gonna flip a car i would keep the miles super low. Literally drive it home and no more.
Flipping via these shady deals between opc and friends and family is a smelly business.
But i love cars too much to flip. Imagine being able to spec a 991touring then selling it. Madness. It aint all about money sometimes. Esp if most of these flippers have plenty already you would think.

You are worrying far too much.

Most flipped Porsche GTs have not been ragged in the slightest.

Serial flippers are only interested in making a quick buck and have zero interest in the cars themselves..None of these flipped cars would come within sniffing distance of a track..

Depends what you call a flipper.

I see loads of very low miles RS for sale and they are battered and clearly been tracked hard and flipped for overs.

Every car over del miles imho has seen 9k revs on these 600 mile cars.

I tend to agree ....I don’t mean the flippers where you see a car at an Indi at 10 miles ..

That’s bad enough ...

But the amateur flippers where cars have done up to say 3000 miles ... if you know it’s going back in .. and you’re bouncing your money into something else surely you’re also bouncing off the limiter ..!!!

I don't really understand who buys these cars at inflated prices. Very few porsches are actually last of its kind or unique. Just wait a little while for porsche to rehash the old recipe and buy it.

Or go for a different brand, even with all the money in the world I wouldn't entertain the corruption between porsche dealers and the flippers.

Wow, really?
So 4K revs limit for the first 1800 miles?

A lot of GT cars have had 2 or even 3 owners within the first 2000 miles. If people think these cars have been run in the way Porsche specify then I have a bridge to sell you laugh

The alternate point of view is that if running in mattered then it would be enforced in the car's software. So it's a pointless exercise and makes no difference.
