Well, after my 996 failed the MOT so badly, I had to check if the fuel was bypassing the engine and coming straight out of the exhaust (turned out to be TWO failed Lambda sensors biggrin ), I could have done with a code to fool the test biggrin

Will be interesting to see where this story goes. The way 2020's gone so far, nothing surprises me anyway biggrin

I had a letter at the end of July for my 2013 Cayenne S, ( V8 4.2D) to come in under a recall for urgent DME upgrade to mitigate NOx emissions. Ignored that, they've since chased by phone too.........

Very cagey press-release. Is this similar to the VW diesel-gate type thing, with defeat-devices?

So, what engines are shared between Porsche/VAG?

I cant see what else it could be in that they felt the need to put their hands up to the regulator

It mentions the 911 and Panamera so the F6 is clearly all Porsche and AFAIK the only VAG engine in the Panny is the latest 2.9 V6 Audi unit. Prior to that they were all Porsche derived V8s and V6s as I don't think the VR6 they used in the first gen KN made it into the first gen Panny.

If all the above is true then it sounds like this is an all in house Porsche issue but someone more knowledgeable than me will be along shortly to correct me if I'm wrong.

Could be interesting.

We ignored the offer from Audi too (diesel gate)but it makes no difference to their liability. We are part of the UK class action. It's looking bad for VAG, they lost on the last court appearance, so not long to go hopefully until the vast payout UK owners will get from that. About time too.

"2008 to 2013 including 911's", so Gen 2 997's will be worthless! biggrin

The petrol engine in the previous generation Cayenne Hybrid was a VW unit I think....was that used in Panamera ?

I assume all the petrol engine in the Panny are some sort of VW unit ? The GTS and Turbo used V8’s didn’t they.

I'm pretty sure what VAG are accused of goes much further than "bending" the rules smile

Totally agree Its been rife for many years. Porsche must know something is going to be unearthed to suddenly go hands up to the regulator.

It'll all come out in the wash.......

Talk about pot and kettle - with 944 emission controls not actually connected to the inlet and air pumps everywhere that do not reduce emissions (just make them read a lower percentage and pass tests) - it has been going on for decades - about time it was sorted out for the sake of our kids!

Or...VAG engines have been part of their success story for some time...maybe one reason they were ahead of the game is that they were cheating when others weren't.

Who knows. I guess all that really matters is whether you get caught or not smile

Sounds like the 9A1 engine in the 997.2 is in there somewhere, I'll wait for a letter.

Yup it’s not like VW’s cars were outstanding on emissions/economy they were very much middle of the road.....so they even had markedly worse engine tech than everyone else and needed to cheat to get in the same ballpark as everyone else or everyone was cheating.
