I've been trying to sell my 968CS for a few weeks now (its in the clsssifieds) and I can't believe I've had no interest in it.

Its a bargain at the price (IMHO).

Is the market really that bad for these cars???

Hi,

Have you tried the two clubs considering the type of car you may well get more luck in TIPEC or PCGB?

Thats where I would sell mine as you will get someone who wants that exact car or who will be able to see it and pass on the information. Also I think with a bit of googling you can find a specialist 968 fansite which may come up with the goods?

Looks a nice car. I have a strange feeling the car may have previously been owned by a PHer.

Good luck with the sale.

Nice looking CS, I love the seats. I cant' beleive how reasonable that is - I've just been reading what cracking trackday cars they make. At that price you could keep it purely for the track.

Hold out - I'm sure someone will take it. I assume you've tried the usual; autotrader, topmarques etc..

thanks - I would try the Clubs but the mag is only out monthly

I already had it in the last issue of Top Marques too

I may try Autotrader again although probably not the best place to advertise

and yes, it was a fellow PHers car previously

Craig, spotted you had updated your previous advert with a lower price & given that the cams have been done etc & its now the summer I'm genuinly amazed its not gone already, (assuming its not got the other 968 weak spots of dead noisy torque tube or knackered dif etc- tho it diddnt when i drove it a year or so ago) I wanted this car so much when its was Scotsters, unfortunatly for me at the mo I just can't afford it.

Im guessing a few track folks may be put off as its not MO30 & others as it is VERY YELLOW!! but still I am supprised.

I've had one for sale for ages. The car is genuinely mint, fully serviced and ready to go. Had a lot of interest, no-one's mentioned it's too expensive, but it's not gone. Never had a car hang around like it. It's got me baffled.

I realise this is no help at all, but I think one problem may be that its LHD. With a 968 (and all the water cooled cars as far as I can tell) there's no benefit with LHD over RHD and so I would guess that is a big drag on it.

(Bear in mind this is from someone who is actually looking for a LHD 993 ...)

I bought one a couple of months ago and love it to bits. I can only ever see myself replacing it with a Cayman RS/CS in 5 years time.

IMO these are specialist cars with a limited market. Its always going to take a while to sell, even more so if its left hand drive, yellow/white, or an excellent car priced at the top of the market. But sooner or later someone will enter the market looking for your car, you just need patience.

Buyers want M030.

Sellers want M030 money for non M030 cars.

LHD is not a problem if you are tracking the car and regardless is reflected in the price. It is not a non-MO30 car priced as one...

Also you say yellow is a problem - from the range of CS colours it is surely the most saleable

I know everyone goes on about M030 on the 968 CS, but surely as technology moves on you can do better using modern suspension components for less money than OE M030 kit?

Fair enough......then one needs to budget around £2000 to purchase some KW and then have it fitted/torsion bars reindexed (not sure about that on a 968), alignment etc.

I did say it may be a problem and yes I agree its reflected in the price, but I just don't think there are that many people looking for a LHD 968. As someone else said its quite a specialist car.

Re. yellow, I don't think I mentioned it at all, someone else did though . It certainly wouldn't a problem for me. I doubt if its the most saleable though, surely that would be black?

I'm sure it will go soon. I think that the fact that it's LHD will put a few folk off, but it shouldn't stop it from selling. 968s used to sell very fast - I don't know why they no longer do so!

P.S - I love yellow!

I have always fancied a yellow 968 CS.

I'd swap it for a 944 turbo......could never be bothered to sell mine.

I think perhaps 968 sellers still tend to ask a bit too much of a premium over 944 models, which are in the same performance ballpark. That said, there are a lot of rough 944's out there, and they don't seem to have survived as well as the 968.
