Belgian courts have given up on trying to prosecute non Belgians that get their pictures taken during high speed runs. Unless you get stopped on the spot you should not worry anymore.

Apparantly there is no cooperation between countries to exchange information about who owns car with licence plate xyz.

Hence "as long as they don't stop you go for it" (but if they catch you its bl**dy expensive)

Good luck

Max 100k euro fine, if you cannot pay it there and then they'll impound your car to cover it.

Think its means tested in belgian and thus they can hit you very hard. I hate Belgium so its not a great loss not going there. (Except for Bruge, but that not a driving destination).

Almost everyone I know who's been stopped for speeding in Belgium was done so with the help of road blocks. They radio ahead and litteraly stop all traffic.

Not sure the above info makes any difference tbh.

Friend emailed me this:

"How about this? a chap at work went to Le mans this year and used his GPS based camera detector as a KPH speedo. Bad move he was stopped by those kind friendly Gendarmes, fined €700 and had the Road Angel detector confiscated." !

I was fined in my 993 on the spot in 2002 coming back from the ‘ring with a friend in a 4.3 Griff. From memory it was £300 ish. Frog marched us to a cash point. We didn’t quibble as we had been cruising at 130 mph and he had a gun. Apparently it took them 20 min to catch us up on their patrol motorbikes and the fine could have been more but they could not prove it. Sadly had we held on for a few more KM we would have been in France and out of their jurisdiction. They both looked like the cop from the Village People it was actually all a bit strange – reasonable people though given the speed

I used to commute weekly from Essex to Brussels.

My plan was when in Europe, was to if caught to outrun the coppers until over the Border. Phew... at least I know my plan was sound, not that I ever used it :-)
