Not working at all.

Had it re-gassed by 'aircon 1'. It sort of worked for a day then zilch.

Any ideas?

Does anyone know a good aircon fixer in central London? Loathe to go to OPC.

My aircon still works in my 993 RS, but only if I press the lower button (with the smaller symbol on it) rather than the upper aircon button (with the larger symbol on it) which is mystery to me. Why are there 2 buttons anyway?

There was a nice chap at Spa in a GT3 called Noel who owns an aircon business. I have lost his details though. Does anyone know how to get him? I know Bickley Insurance know him and they would probably put you in touch with him. I don't know where his business is based mind, but it is down south.

Sounds like it might be a similar problem to one that I had with my Range Rover. Check that the system is still gassed up by taking it back to you air con man. Alternatively, check the feed and return pipes from the compressor, the feed should be warm and the retun should be ice cold, if not then the system is not working properly. My system had a small leak in it whereby I would gas it up and then over 48 hours it would be empty again. Turned out to be a minute hole in the condenser. Expert was only able to locate it with a sniffer gun, even with a dye it was not visible without removing panels etc.. Changed the condenser and hey presto air con working again.

Hope this helps

Mr Senna - the two buttons work different settings. Top one allows the air temp to be regulated and air flow is controlled by the fan speed settings. Bottom button sets the fan to full and minimum temp automatically.

Cheers mate, it's the full blow button that refuses to give me cold air. Funny.

I would agree that there isn't much point going to an OPC; they'll most likely subcontract it out.

I looked into 993 AC a bit on Rennlist. It seems the 993 AC system runs lower pressures than other systems; it's worth making sure the AC specialist doesn't overfill it. Post 54 on this rennlist thread shows what the pressure should be: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforums/showthread.php?t=132554&page=4&pp=15&highlight=air+pressure+temperature+ambient I think the fill weight is 840 grams of R134a plus 140 grams of lubricant.

The graphs are from the factory shop manual. Note that at 25 C the system should be able to achieve output temps of 7.5-11 C or 46-52 F.

On my car there were quite a few leaves in the duct up against the condenser. And a very desicated small bird. I can well imagine that at speed they blocked off a good portion. There's also a leak which should be fixed on Friday.
