Posted recent requesting feedback/opinion on current 993 market re a typical spec I had in mind – got lots of good feedback – many thanks to all that replied. Have 1 further question to the forum and again would be grateful for any opinions. Yes I know this is supposed to be a heart thing - but unfortunately I’m a head guy so will probably over analyze before I splash the cash.

Question – what has happened to the 993 market over the past 12 months? I had heard that last summer saw a significant peak in prices where prices had been flat/rising in period prior to that, now falling although slowly. Is this so? I would assume that Cayman, new boxster, and creeping negativity re GB economy would be the primary influences here – thoughts? What would be your best guesses on value of a good late £30k now 993 value in 2 years?

Nobody knows about future resale of anything, just like we don't know when we're about to pop out clogs. Get out there and enjoy it; you can't take it with you.
I'll expect a call tomorrow!

Between £25k and £29k. Despite having just agreed the sale of my 993 I'm a great fan of the car and don't think there's much downside (financially or otherwise) in buying one.

My honest opinion (flame suit on) is that if you're so concerned about depreciation, maybe you need to wait until a Porsche is a small % of your disposable income. Thouigh servicing isn't outrageous, the fact is that a 10 year old car like a 993 will need money spending on it - clutch, brakes, suspension - just on wear & tear items. If something goes pear shaped, you may need to find £££ to sort it.
Insurance and petrol will cost the best part of £220/month, not to mention tyres and the dreaded mods..

however, you asked about future values. I would think 993 prices will bottom out at £20k (some decent mid-high milers at £23-£25 now) - though it heavily depends on the individual car and how you buy it and how you sell it.
