992 Targa 4S Heritage - Discounts and Helmholtz Resonance?
Discussion
Firstly, I'm looking to buy a new 992 Targa 4S Heritage and wondered if anyone had heard of any kind of discounts, and if so what sort of discount should I be aiming to achieve from the dealer, if any?
Secondly, I've heard that when the 911 Targa has the roof down, it can suffer with "Helmholtz Resonance". For those who don't know (which I didn't until investigating this car) "Helmholtz Resonance" is the throbbing noise you get which hurts your ears, when you're driving in a car and open for example, just one, or sometimes two back windows. Similarly with the front - Anyone know how bad this is on the 992 Targa, and is it such that you would avoid this beautiful car?

It is certainly a problem on the 991 according to a number of reviews.Secondly, I've heard that when the 911 Targa has the roof down, it can suffer with "Helmholtz Resonance". Catchpole's review of the 992 Targa discusses the resonance ("a definite negative" even with the deflector).

I own an 18 reg 991.2 Targa 4 GTS and like you had read that the wind buffeting was a problem. I have driven a number of convertible cars over the years and can honestly say that I noticed no difference in wind noise between the convertibles I have driven and the Targa. The 991.2 does have a strip on top of the windscreen that pops up when the roof is down and that does reduce the overall wind noise. Each of us are different of course and what may be acceptable to me may be a problem for you. The only way to see if it is an issue is to have a drive in a Targa- either a 991.2 or 992. My understanding is that the roof design is the same for both.
