Hi All,
Just tried to fit 19” carrera classic alloys to my 987 Boxster and the rears don’t fit. 305 tyres seem to stick out a lot. Wheels struggled to move, scraped the suspension and inside of the wheel when I tried to move the car.
Any ideas if this is a common thing that people come across or if spacers are needed?
Any advise would be great.
Thanks
Tom

I reckon 305s are far too big for the 987. B/C S/GTS rears are only 265s. 991 C2/S only 295s.

And then what's suitable and what's not wheel-wise depends on offsets which vary from wheel to wheel. Have you got the right wheel to begin with?

The 997 c4/c4s comes with a 305 rear tyre on an 11.5 inch rim. The 997 c2/c2s comes with a 295 rear tyre on an 11 inch rim. You've probably bought the wrong wheels for your car. They are for the 911 and not the Boxster.

Boxster wheels are 265 at the rear on 19s I believe. The alloys you have are probably from a 997.

Thank you all for your advice.
Would spacers on the rear fix this issue do you think?
If so, what size spacers would do the job?

Wrong wheels and tyres I am afraid.

Spacers will help clearance on the inside but will push the "poke" out even further. You may get away with spacers and smaller tyres but better to buy the right wheels.

If you do manage to fit incorrect wheels and tyres to your car, make sure you advise your insurance company and that they agree to it.

Hey Tom - for the future, here is your 'bible' for OE wheels, and a useful guide for choosing aftermarket by comparing with the OE wheel widths + offsets.

http://www.944racing.de/wheelweights.php - thanks to Florian for this info.

As said above, you may have bought the 11J wheel intended for the 997 - I would imagine the 9.5J rear was manufactured to fit your car. I imagine that the 8J front is the same fitment for both cars.

Look at the back faces of your wheels - there will be info stamped there, if genuine wheels. If your rears are 9.5J with offset 46, then you only have to change the tyres.

If they are 11J with offset 67, get them up for sale smile

Excellent, thanks everyone for their help.
They are 11j on the rear.
If we are saying that even spacers wouldn’t fit then I’ll get them up for sale. Thanks again

Or buy a 997?
