Reading the below in a new vehicle sales T&Cs in regards to the deposit, do you think this is translatable into human language? smile
Basically I get their deposit back if I decide to cancel for any reason? What are the 'all other cases when the deposit is not refundable'?

Sounds to me like you will get your deposit back if an event is outside of your control, I guess being made redundant for example may been seen at that. Less any deducts stated in clause 5.3, I assume these refer to costs incurred by dealer, storage, re-advertising, financing costs etc.

Changing your mind I don't think would constitute.

I am sure a lawyer will be along shortly.

The clause is inelegantly drafted. It uses more words than are needed. The deposit is NOT refundable if you cancel the purchase "for any reason". The deposit is refundable only if the Agreement is terminated for a reason that is outside your control. For example: the car is not available, or Earth is invaded by space aliens.

I assume by the way that this is not a distance sale.

Isn't he focused on present delivery and mince pie eating this week, followed by elf abuse for the next 51 weeks?

Please don't tell me that there is no Sanity Clause...

I'm here all week
