992 Cabriolet spec
Discussion
I need some help! I am speccing a new 992 cabriolet and would like some help getting it right, so I have 2 questions:
1. I'm set on a red leather interior because its something I have always wanted, but what exterior colour goes best? I'm thinking Agate Grey, GT Silver or Aventurine Green (the latter of which looks rubbish on the Configurator but great in real life). But what do you think?
2. If you had to pick one ESSENTIAL option, what would it be?
Thanks so much for your help

1.
Not a fan of Agate.
GT Silver with red interior would be my pick.
Aventurine I think looks great but would be a struggle with red interior. The Truffle brown leather (crayon stitching) though would look fantastic. This is current fantasy configurator combo.
2.
I think the sports design package is essential, just to lift the rear number plate up.
And manual.

Would do GT Silver from the list you provided. White would also be a "classic" combo with red, reminiscent of the 80s
I would go 18 way any day as you can make the seat more "bucket-like" if needed. I get back-ache in the simpler seats and the 18 way is the only standard seat I get comfortable in during longer drives. As a caveat: I am also most comfortable in the folding buckets I have in my GT3s - much more as in the 18 ways in my wife's car

Matches for red interior : black, white, agate, GT Silver
Prioritised option : 14w or 18w seats. I need these for the independent height adjustment of the front and rear of the seat base. The standard seats' height adjustment is the same as a VW Golf and means if you are tall the weight is on your bottom and not on your thighs. With the 14w or 18w I can have the back of the base all the way down and the front all the way up.

Probably not worth the extra and maybe not possible but the volcano grey you can get in the rest of the Porsche range would go well with the red, otherwise agree with the others about silver and also black. Not too sure about white. I mean the colour combo does look stunning in a hot, sunny country but we live in the currently not so united kingdom.
If youre set on red interior then gt silver. (personally red would be the last colour I'd pick).
One must have option. Sports chrono package.
PSE and sports design package are also 2 musts imo.
Re the seats the 14 ways and 18 ways are two completely different seats, neither is better than the other it's down to which suits you best. I'd really try and find a way of trying them both to see what suits you.

Interesting, I had just assumed that the 18-way seats were pretty much 14-ways with adjustable bolsters? That conclusion was very scientifically based on looking at what switches were on the side of the seat, so there’s probably room for correction! One must have option. Sports chrono package.

I have 18-ways in my 981CS with memory package, and I am hugely impressed by them. Being able to memorise 2 very optimised positions - one for distance comfort and one for more spirited stuff (bolster control necessary), and then the ability to make small adjustments occasionally to relieve any pressure - has been a brilliant feature.
The quality of Porsche seat design is very, very good. I say this as someone who’s spent a decade strapped into Boeing and Airbus cockpit seats for ludicrously long flights while continually trying to find the sweet spot - so I appreciate subtle position changes and how I feel after I walk through my front door. Of the cars I’ve owned, my 7-series of yesteryear was the comfiest seat to be on for extended periods, but honestly, I’d put the 18-ways not too far behind, and the fact you can create a fairly racy bucket out of them when the mood takes you is quite something.

I can't speak for the 981 but no on the 992 they are different seats completely. I have 18-ways in my 981CS with memory package, and I am hugely impressed by them. The 14s are the normal sports seats the 18s are the sports seats plus far more snug, I'd imagine a little to snug if you were a bigger guy. Would definitely advise trying both before ordering.
You're right though the seats whichever you choose are amongst the best out there.

Gt silver with red.
Avoid any yellow on the inside. Looks naff . It will really date many cars in the future imo.
My personal fave with any porsche silver is the blue interior. Looks terrific.
Manual is a good decision.
I had silver with blue previously and was good, but a bit cold. Hence red this timeAvoid any yellow on the inside. Looks naff . It will really date many cars in the future imo.

Sports chrono is included with the manual option, although I don't know if there is a launch control with manual? Agreed with PSE, but not convinced by sports design package. It does look better IMHO, but not enough to justify costOne must have option. Sports chrono package.
