Porsche Crayon Grey vs Sport Classic Grey
Discussion
Hi, all I know this has been asked across few different forums and pages but not found anything conclusive.
I’m looking to possibly respray my classic beetle in a Porsche colour and been looking at the Porsche Crayon/Chalk Grey.
I’ve seen plenty of comparison pics between the Crayon and Fashion Grey, and you can see the Chalk is lighter which I prefer, but I haven’t been able to find any comparisons between Crayon Grey and Sport Classic Grey?
Does anyone have any car side by side comparisons or colour card side by side comparisons?
Thanks for any help

Why not choose an authentic VW shade of grey?
My '65 Beetle was L320 Dolphin Grey which is probably a shade darker than Crayon. L594 Smoke Grey is a very light shade if that's what you're after.

I had seen that post but no actual images to compare between the 2 shades, only Crayon Grey and Fashion Grey 🤔pete.g said:

I had thought of an original colour but fancied something a bit different. The beetle isn’t going to be original once finished anyway 😂My '65 Beetle was L320 Dolphin Grey which is probably a shade darker than Crayon. L594 Smoke Grey is a very light shade if that's what you're after.

Our Macan Turbo PP is Sport Classic Grey. Crayon has got a brown tint to it whereas Sport Classic has a green/blue tint to it...at least to my eyes, I don’t like Crayon personally. One of my wife’s friends bought a Macan in Crayon because she liked ours thinking it was the same colour......at some stage I can probably get a photo of the two ext to each other.
If you want to see Sport Classic Grey car I live in Buckinghamshire.

The problem you have is you cannot really choose a colour accurately from looking at a PC screen.
Best bet is go to a car refinishers and get some paint made up. Spray it out and then you can make a decision.
They should be able to make it up in aerosol form to make it easier for you
I’m thinking this will be my best option, or at least to try and get a couple of colour cards made up by my paint supplier Best bet is go to a car refinishers and get some paint made up. Spray it out and then you can make a decision.

Once lockdown is over I have to take my son to Northampton for cricket coaching pretty regularly....if it’s still indoors I doubt we’ll be allowed to watch and I’ll have two or three hours to kill so could meet somewhere a bit north/east of there if that helped. Appreciate Lins is a big place though !

Just found this video which has a SC Grey GT3 and a Crayon Macan...here’s a good still which shows the brown tone I was talking about. The guy mentioned the blue tone in the SC Grey.

I would also say these are good representations to me of SC Grey...it really does vary a lot in the light. Looks much greyer when it’s darker....which is when Crayon looks really brown to me.

Yeah that second pic of the Sport Classic Grey is what I’d seen and made me like how it looked. As you say, in different lights it looks different and I’m sure Crayon Grey has the same going on as well.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OCO18zxvl8s

The fourth photo on this Insta post shows Crayon (Chalk) vs SC Grey https://www.instagram.com/p/Bk6WPeTFKyR/?utm_sourc...

If you like the light grey look of Sport Classic Grey have you seen Grigio Campovolo ? That’s even lighter I would say.
